Fort Bend County Fair and Rode Scholarship Application Deadline Extended
Good news for students in Fort Bend County has arrived amidst this week's harsh weather conditions. Due to the inclement weather, the Fort Bend County Fair and Rodeo scholarship opportunity has extended its application deadline to Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
The Fort Bend County Fair and Rodeo, a yearly event renowned for its commitment to the community, has long been a supporter of educational advancement. This year, $5,000 scholarships, plus three Fort Bend County Fair Queen Scholarships, will be awarded to qualifying students through proceeds from the 2023 Fort Bend County Fair and the Fort Bend County Fair Life Membership Fund. Since 1979, the Fort Bend County Fair has awarded 1,045 scholarships to students.
Although the program offers scholarships to high school seniors graduating this spring, previously rewarded students are not left out. Second-year applicants who bagged a scholarship in 2023 and fulfilled its requirements can also apply for a similar sum.
High school seniors from recognized Fort Bend County programs, with plans to attend a college, university, or technical school within Texas or a United States Military Academy are eligible. To be considered, students need to be U.S. Citizens or residents of Fort Bend County, and should have participated in Fort Bend County Fair events or competitions anytime during their high school years.
The FBCFA scholarship doesn't just reward academic achievement but also takes into account extracurricular involvement. Second-year scholarship recipients have their selection based on college involvement, work experience, community involvement, and indeed, academic achievement while attending college.
Applicants need to follow a specified process to be considered for the scholarship. Scholarship recipients will be informed via email and have a special evening to look forward to. They're expected to attend the Scholarship Awards Reception that will take place in the spring of 2024. The funds from the scholarships will be released in the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters, given that all documentation is submitted on time and requirements are met.
