Five Cy-Fair ISD Girls’ Basketball Teams Advance to UIL 6A Region Quarterfinals

February 23 2026

The road to the UIL Class 6A state tournament is narrowing, but for five Cypress-Fairbanks ISD (CFISD) girls’ basketball teams, the journey is still very much alive — and the Cypress community is feeling the momentum.

Cypress Springs, Cypress Lakes, Langham Creek, Cypress Creek and Jersey Village high schools have all advanced to the UIL 6A Region Quarterfinals after winning in the area round of the Texas high school basketball playoffs. For families, students, alumni and neighbors across Cypress, this isn’t just another sports update — it’s a reminder of the talent, discipline and pride growing inside CFISD gyms every season.

With packed stands, late-night practices and entire campuses rallying behind them, these student-athletes are representing more than their schools. They’re representing their neighborhoods.

Cypress Springs Panthers Power Forward

Cypress Springs High School delivered a commanding 65-32 victory over Spring Westfield in the area round.

The Panthers now face DeSoto at 7 p.m. on Feb. 23 at Madisonville High School, located at 811A May Street in Madisonville. As one of the most competitive programs in UIL Class 6A girls’ basketball, DeSoto presents a high-profile matchup — one that has local supporters planning the drive.

For Cypress Springs families, this postseason push reflects years of steady program growth and a commitment to excellence that extends beyond the court.

Cypress Lakes Spartans Edge Out a Thriller

Cypress Lakes High School secured one of the most dramatic wins of the round, defeating The Woodlands 45-44 in a nail-biter.

The Spartans will take on Cedar Hill at 6 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Waco Robinson High School, 700 W. Tate Ave. With momentum on their side, Cypress Lakes heads into the regional quarterfinals battle-tested and confident.

Close playoff wins often define a season — and this one is already part of school lore.

Langham Creek Lobos Advance with Dominance

Langham Creek High School posted a decisive 49-16 victory over Conroe Grand Oaks to claim its area championship.

The Lobos will meet Lancaster at 6 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Fairfield High School, 631 Post Oak Road. Their defensive performance in the previous round signals a team peaking at the right time — a factor that matters deeply in Texas high school girls’ basketball playoffs.

Cypress Creek Cougars Continue Strong Run

Cypress Creek High School defeated Katy Seven Lakes 67-58 to move forward in the UIL 6A bracket.

The Cougars now face Humble Summer Creek at 6 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the Aldine ISD Campbell Center, 1865 Aldine Bender Road. The Campbell Center will also host another CFISD team that same evening, creating a shared postseason stage for the district.

For many Cypress Creek supporters, the regional quarterfinal appearance reflects the program’s consistency and the broader athletic strength within CFISD.

Jersey Village Falcons Soar Ahead

Jersey Village High School defeated Fulshear 48-42 in the area round.

The Falcons will play Pearland Dawson at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the Aldine ISD Campbell Center. With two CFISD programs competing at the same venue, the energy is expected to draw a strong Cypress-area crowd.

These regional quarterfinal matchups are part of the official UIL Texas high school girls’ basketball playoff bracket, one of the most competitive postseason tournaments in the country.

Cypress Falls Concludes Strong Season

Cypress Falls High School saw its season come to a close after a 59-55 loss to Alief Taylor. The Golden Eagles finished as area finalists, a milestone achievement that reflects resilience and competitive strength throughout the season.

Even in defeat, reaching the area finals remains a point of pride for the Cypress Falls community.

Why This Matters for CFISD Families

In a district as large and dynamic as Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, postseason success builds something bigger than trophies. It strengthens campus identity, boosts school spirit and gives younger students visible examples of teamwork and perseverance.

Tickets for Cypress Springs, Cypress Lakes, Langham Creek, Cypress Creek and Jersey Village games will be sold online. Families are encouraged to check official school athletic pages for purchasing details and playoff updates.

What Happens Next

The UIL Class 6A Region Quarterfinals represent the next step toward the regional tournament and ultimately the UIL State Basketball Championships. Each win narrows the field — and raises the stakes.

For now, though, the focus across Cypress, Jersey Village and the broader CFISD community is simple: support the student-athletes who are carrying their schools forward.

As the postseason continues, residents can stay tuned to My Neighborhood News for ongoing coverage of CFISD athletics, playoff results and community milestones shaping the district’s story.
