STREETLIGHTS

We currently pay for the streetlights throughout the neighborhood whether they are working or not. Therefore, we ask that all neighbors report any streetlights that are not working directly to CenterPoint Energy at the following website: www.centerpointenergy.com/en-us/residential/customer-service/electric-outage-center/report-streetlight-outages?sa=ho. This website also has a map on it showing the number of the streetlight, if it is worn off of the streetlight pole that is not working.

SIGNAGE

Please remove signage that you may see as you walk/ride through the neighborhood that is not official Green Trails signage or neighborhood garage sale signs. Signs other than these are not authorized, are unsightly and can also cause damage to our sprinkler system. If the signs are removed promptly this will discourage future placement of unauthorized signs within Green Trails. This is particularly a problem along Kingsland Blvd. and Greenhouse Road. If garage sale signs are placed, please remember to dispose of your signs once the sale is finished.

BE A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY EVENTS

Do you like to plan events?? Or perhaps take just one area or task of an event and follow it through?? We have some great activities that we do in the Green Trails neighborhood that happen because of our volunteers! We are needing help with our events. Please contact Pam Weatherall at 281-467-7555 or pboxx@sbcglobal.net if your interested.

TRASH REMINDERS

  • Our community has garage door (backdoor) service.
  • Refuse (trash) must be either in containers or bags not exceeding 50 gallons or weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Garage door service is for household garbage only. Household garbage is waste generated inside your home.
  • Trash bags or containers must be accessible and visible near your back door/outside your breezeway gate.
  • Trees, shrubs, brush trimmings and fencing must be bundled in lengths no grater that 4 feet with no branch diameter exceeding 3 inches and placed at the curb.
  • Heavy trash such as appliances, furniture, carpet (up to 1 room, rolled up four feet wide and less than 40 pounds), cardboard boxes (flattened), will be picked up on Saturdays. *These items must be placed at the curb.*
  • Recycling will be collected on Wednesdays and must be placed at the curb for pickup.
  • Please put your trash out the morning of trash pickup. If you put your trash out the night before trash pickup this allows cats and other animals to be able to get into your trash causing a mess on the street for the trash collection workers or yourself to deal with.

GREEN TRAILS TENNIS

PICKLEBALL
Two Pickleball courts have been overlaid onto the Park Cypress tennis court and in a feasibility study, portable Pickleball nets are provided for common use. There are instructions on the nets for moving and storing the nets.

Since Pickleball and Tennis are being played on the same court area, players must reserve courts through the Green Trails Court Reservation System, Reservemycourt.com. The pickleball courts are labelled “PC Pickleball N” and “PC Pickleball S.” Instructions for creating an account on ReserveMyCourt are discussed in the “Court Reservation System” section below.

Anyone interested in pickleball should text John Barajas at 713-805-1216 .

COURT RESERVATION SYSTEM
In December 2020, we initiated a new online court reservation system. To reserve a court, a resident should go to login.ReserveMyCourt.com and sign up as a new user by clicking on “Create an Account.” Enter your address under the “Address” dropdown menu. Under the dropdown menu “My Clubs” click on “New Club Connection” and select “Green Trails Ph 2 HOA” from the selections. There is no need to enter anything in “My Wallet” since there are no additional charges for using our courts. If you have any problems, please text Greg Kubala, 281-507-6343 or Jim Haylett, 281-395-3552.

After signing up as a new user, you can reserve a court on this website. Click on “Club Schedule” under “GT HOA” in the left column. The courts are designated GA for Gerri Ayres and PC for Park Cypress. Click on the date above the schedule to select the date you would like to reserve a court. Click in the time you want the reservation and complete the details in the popup menus.

Residents may reserve a court no sooner than 48 hours in advance for a 1 1/2-hour time-period. If a court is reserved and no one shows up to use the court, you are free to play on that court until the individual with the reservation shows up. These rules are posted on the website and the bulletin boards and are designed to allow maximum court usage for all residents.

ReserveMyCourt.com also has apps on iPhone and Android phones.

For safety reasons, tennis activities using a basket of balls are not permitted during prime time on the Gerri Ayres courts. Multiple balls lying on the courts is a safety hazard for others using the courts. Prime hours are every day, 8-10:30 AM and 6-9 PM. The court on Park Cypress is a single court on which multiple balls lying on the ground is not a hazard to others. If you want to use a basket of balls, reserve the court on Park Cypress.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH AND ADHERE TO THE POSTED GREEN TRAILS TENNIS COURT POLICIES CAN RESULT IN DEACTIVATION OF YOUR CARD KEY FOR ONE MONTH.

Anyone, including tennis pros, wanting to reserve REGULAR court time or to reserve the courts for a SPECIAL event in advance, must contact the tennis committee for approval through Greg Kubala or Jim Haylett at the phone numbers listed above.

LEAGUE TENNIS
Ladies HLTA and WHLTA tennis leagues are approved to play on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Fall and Spring from 8:30 AM-1 PM. Currently there is a Champ 2 West team playing on Monday and a A-3 team playing on Wednesday. The League Regulations are posted on the Crest Management Green Trails website under “Meeting and Forms,” “Public Forms.” If you are interested in playing ladies league tennis contact Brigitte Hobbesland, 713-591-0880.

MOSQUITO CONTROL

Green Trails II has a mosquito control contract with Excalibur Mosquito Control, but you can help, too. The best mosquito control program includes removal of breeding sites. Check your yards and correct these problem areas:
  1. Bowl planters, pots, water dishes and birdbaths which can hold dampness or water
  2. Stopped up gutters or standing water in gutters
  3. Remove moisture holding pine needles from roof valleys and piles around house.
  4. Don’t over water your yard. If water stands for more than 20 minutes after watering, you are over watering.
  5. Monitor standing water under decks and around pools or spas. Spray under deck with garden- variety insecticide regularly or install a drain. Plastic under decks holds water, so try to eliminate it.

SHORT TERM RENTALS NOT ALLOWED

Please be aware that short-term rentals of rooms or entire properties are a violation of deed restrictions.

DOGGIE DON’TS

Most of our dog owners are responsible, using a leash and picking up after your pets. We thank you!

HOWEVER - We have received reports of dog owners allowing their dogs to defecate and urinate in yards. This is especially a problem in high-traffic areas near park entrances. Be aware that it is not just your dog. Once a yard has been “used,” other dogs want to do so as well. A resident should not have to pick up after even one dog, much less ten. In addition, runners and walkers in our parks don’t enjoy dodging excrement. Please carry a bag and pick up after your pet.

Remember also, that even the sweetest dog may seem intimidating to some people. Respect their rights and comply with leash laws.

HOME IMPROVEMENT REMINDER

Remember, ALL exterior changes made to your home or yard [including your fence] require Architectural Review Committee approval first. In need of an Exterior Modification Request form? Go to www.greentrailstwo.com our neighborhood website.

NO CALL IS TOO SMALL

Call the Constable to report any suspicious activity. The fastest dispatch for Green Trails is via their direct line at 281-463-6666. If something “doesn’t seem right,” don’t wait to be sure. Trust your intuition, call it in and let them decide. You are our best defense.

REMOVE VALUABLES, LOCK CARS

Thanks to a resident’s timely call, the constables made an arrest in connection to car burglaries. However we need to continue common sense security practices. Note that 90% of the car burglaries in the neighborhood were of unlocked cars. Lock your cars and remove valuables. Report any burglaries, even if only items of minimal value were taken.

PAINTED CONCRETE

No concrete that is visible from any street, whether a driveway, sidewalk, patio or other improvement, shall be painted or stained any color.

Concrete that is not visible from any street may be painted or stained only with ARC approval.

PAVILION RELEASE FORM

To reserve a park pavilion, please fill out this form or contact Crest Management at 281-579-0761.

REMINDER FOR GATED SECTIONS

Please remember that entry codes are for the use of residents ONLY. Please ask guests and / or contractors to utilize the gate directory to obtain access. If contact information in the directory needs to be updated, please contact Crest Management and provide information.

WEBSITE AND EBLAST INFO

The Website for Green Trails Phase II (www.greentrailstwo.com) has a “blast email” function. This feature allows the Association to send news to residents on a mass basis. The Board of Directors intends to start utilizing this function more frequently to disseminate important information, particularly in emergencies like Hurricane Ike.

If you have not registered and would like to do so, please go to the “Join Our Mailing List” section of the Website. The only information that you need to enter is your email address. Each of the other items is optional, including your name. None of the information will be distributed to third parties.
