Experience the Magic of Fall with The Great Pumpkin Round Up at George Ranch Historical Park

October 02 2024

Now that autumn has officially arrived, the George Ranch Historical Park is gearing up for its annual fall-themed event, The Great Pumpkin Round Up. Set to be hosted every Saturday from October 12th through November 16th, the event is a popular Fall attraction for Fort Bend locals and visitors alike.

Just a brief, 30-mile drive southwest of Houston, the George Ranch Historical Park is a living testament to the enduring legacy of the George family. Established in 1824, the Park encapsulates more than a century of Texas history within its 20,000 acres of functioning ranch, providing a historical platform that transcends generations. Founded by Albert and Mamie George, the Park mirrors their commitment to community, heritage, and philanthropy—values that have been passed down and preserved through The George Foundation.

This year, The Great Pumpkin Round Up will be hosted in a new location—The George Ranch Visitor Center. According to Executive Director Adrienne Barker, the new location provides one of the most picturesque vistas in the ranch.

"Guests will enjoy the new site surrounded by vintage oak trees by the creek, along with our new Visitor Center. It’s the perfect way to spend a Fall Saturday with the family," Barker shared.

Designed by local designer Lucas Chavez, the event showcases a plethora of pumpkins, gourds, squash, and fall florals interwoven among the historical artifacts at the Visitor Center. This year's autumn display not only encapsulates the spirit of fall but also serves as an idyllic backdrop for picture-perfect selfies and family photos.

Attendance to The Great Pumpkin Round Up is included with the regular ticket purchase to the George Ranch Historical Park, with proceeds going towards the Park's primary mission of student education. It's an opportunity to immerse oneself in the richness of Texas history while celebrating the beauty of the season. Further information, including ticket details, can be found on The George Ranch Historical Park's website.
