Experience Outdoor Adventure Close to Home at the Spring Community Campout in Katy
Calling all adventurers! The City of Katy Parks and Recreation Department is bringing back the Spring Community Campout at VFW Park. This family-oriented event kicks off on Friday, March 15 at 4:00 PM. With a ton of activities, movies under the stars, and delicious food, this is one adventure you won't want to miss.
The campout offers Katy families a unique opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors right in the heart of the city. Complete with a children's playground, walking paths, picnic pavilions, and public restrooms, VFW Park, located at 6202 George Bush Drive, provides the perfect backdrop for this cherished community event. This park is also known for hosting the bi-annual Community Campouts and the popular Katy Summer Nights series.
A night of fun awaits with a hot dog dinner courtesy of Parkway Fellowship North Katy, indulgent s'mores, and an outdoor movie to end the day. On Saturday morning, you can enjoy breakfast with your fellow campers. The event wraps up at 9:00 AM, leaving you plenty of time to enjoy the rest of your weekend.
The event is free, but pre-registration is required for all participants to ensure there's enough food and activities for everyone. If you're planning to join in on the fun, remember to pack your own tents and camping supplies. Please note that for safety reasons, all children must be accompanied by an adult, and no alcohol, pets, or glass are allowed. And while camping trailers may offer an easier camping experience, only traditional tents are permitted to preserve the authenticity of the outdoor experience.
The deadline for registration is Sunday, March 10, 2024, so make sure to book your spot early to avoid disappointment. Late registrations or attendees will not be accepted, and there will be no onsite registration.
So mark your calendars, gather your camping gear and don't miss out on this unique opportunity to create cherished memories with your family and fellow Katy community members. Register now for the Spring Community Campout and embrace the great outdoors – Katy style!
