Exit 4 Private Escape Rooms Now Open in Katy

March 26 2024

Exit 4 Private Escape Rooms, a one-of-a-kind interactive experience, finally opened its doors on March 1 in Katy. The business is part of the Exit 4 franchise, which prioritizes fun over fear, with participants not actually locked in rooms and given the liberty to modify the difficulty level of their challenges.

Owned and operated by Jennifer McDowell, a passionate entrepreneur and long-time Katy resident, Exit 4 Private Escape Rooms aims to be a source of joy and entertainment for the community. "After exploring numerous franchises, Exit 4 stood out as the one that genuinely focuses on fun, and I believe it could bring immense joy to our community," said McDowell.

Located in the heart of the Katy Grand / Katy Asian Town area, McDowell saw an opportunity in being amidst a hub of entertainment and dining, like Home Run Dugout, Pop Stroke and Andretti Indoor Karting and Games. "It's ideal to have so many other attractions and restaurants nearby," she stated. Construction began in September 2023, turning what was once an empty shell into a finished space by March 1, 2024.

As for special features, Exit 4 Private Escape Rooms of Katy promises a community discount for local heroes, including nurses, teachers, first responders, veterans, and active military personnel. Plans for an events room, catering to gatherings like team building, birthday parties, and girls’ night out, are also in the pipeline.

McDowell, a widowed mother with two children, found the simplicity and flexibility of operating an escape room appealing, given her priority of putting family before work. "Owning a business that also brings joy into the community felt like the key to my success and personal satisfaction," she explained.

This venture joins McDowell's extensive professional background since 2001. Although her role as an entrepreneur required a healthy mix of volunteering and business ventures, this is her first retail business and franchise operation. Having lived in Katy for 15 years, McDowell became a part of the Katy Area Chamber, understanding the vital role of business in shaping the community. The recent ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce only added to the significance of Exit 4 Private Escape Rooms' opening.

"The Katy Area Chamber is proud to welcome this new, exciting business which will add another layer to our community's vibrant and diverse entertainment landscaper," said Stacy Jacobs, VP, Business Development for the Katy Area Chamber.

With a strong commitment to fostering local talent, McDowell aims to create job opportunities for local youths, students, and aspiring managers. "I feel this responsibility is very important to any small business owner and further enhances our community," she added.
