Cy-Fair Helping Hands Hosts 3rd Annual Back to School Bash for CFISD Students in Need

July 22 2024

Cy-Fair Helping Hands, a local non-profit organization, is preparing for its 3rd Annual Back to School Bash taking place on Saturday, August 3, 2024. The event is primarily targeted at Cy-Fair ISD students from financially challenged backgrounds, according to the organization.

The bash has a dual objective - offering students the necessary school supplies in brand new, age-appropriate backpacks, and ringing in the academic year with a carnival atmosphere abounding in games and activities for students and their families.

Pat Hudson, the Director of Community Outreach, shared his excitement as the event draws near. "Our countdown for the Cy-Fair Helping Hands's 3rd Annual Back to School Bash is down to its final two weeks! We are extending an open invitation to our clients and Cy-Fair ISD families in need to partake in the carnival and receive their fair share of over 1,000 backpacks that we are eager to distribute," Hudson stated. She added that they are collaborating with the Community Youth Services CFISD liaisons to make sure that these school supplies reach the students who are in need.

The event venue is set to be the Calvary Community Church located at 7550 Cherry Park Drive, and it will run from 9 am to 12 pm. An impressive line-up of over 30 community churches, businesses, and organizations are ready to lend their support to the event, offering entertainment, games, food, school clothing, and family resources inside the venue. Spiderman will demonstrate CPR procedures, while the Cy-Fair Fire Department, Department of Public Safety, and the CFISD Police will discuss their roles as first responders. Several impressive vehicles have been added to the fun as well.

It is important to note that this event is exclusively for CFISD students who are financially needy. No registration will be required this year. However, families will have to present a photo ID at the entrance, and students have to be present to collect their backpacks. The entrance for parking will be to the right side of the church building.
