As Spring continues to attract new families and businesses, another addition focused on education and enrichment is on the way. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer on a new Cordovan Art School location at 24527 Gosling Road, Suite H2 in Spring, bringing one of Texas' fastest-growing art education brands to the area.

According to public construction records, the project consists of a new 2,249-square-foot art school with an estimated construction value of $200,000. Work is expected to begin on July 6, 2026, with completion anticipated by October 30, 2026.

Expanding Creative Opportunities in Spring

For families in Spring, The Woodlands, Klein, Tomball, and surrounding communities, the new location represents more than just another business opening. It adds another option for children and adults seeking opportunities to explore creativity, build confidence, and develop artistic skills outside of traditional classroom settings.

The new Gosling Road location will join Cordovan's growing network of schools across Texas, including nearby campuses in The Woodlands, Spring-Louetta Road, Atascocita, Katy, Sugar Land, Bellaire, and Houston's Energy Corridor. Founded in 2009, the company has expanded from a single studio into a statewide network of locations and launched its franchising program in 2025.

The upcoming school's location near the Gosling Road corridor places it within easy reach of many established and growing residential communities throughout southern Montgomery County and northern Harris County, an area that has experienced significant population growth in recent years.

A Philosophy Built Around Creativity and Confidence

Cordovan Art School was founded by artist and entrepreneur John Howell, who began painting at age five and later pursued a career in both professional art and business before returning to his passion for arts education.

The school's philosophy centers on helping students discover what they can accomplish through practice, creativity, and encouragement. Cordovan refers to its welcoming approach as a "smile-smile" policy, with the goal of creating a positive environment where students can relax, learn, and express themselves through art.

According to the company, instructors focus on teaching the fundamental principles of art and design while helping students gain confidence in their abilities through consistent practice and hands-on learning.

Classes for Children, Teens, and Adults

The new Spring location is expected to offer many of the programs available at existing Cordovan campuses, serving students from preschool age through adulthood.

Programs typically include weekly art classes covering drawing, painting, sketching, watercolor, acrylics, charcoal, pastels, mixed media, anime and fantasy art, pottery, ceramics, and homeschool art education.

For parents looking for enrichment opportunities during school breaks, Cordovan is also known for its themed art camps. The camps often feature popular topics such as Pokémon-inspired art, video game art, superheroes, fantasy themes, animals, sea life, space adventures, pottery, and mixed-media projects.

In addition to regular classes, the school offers workshops, private events, birthday parties, corporate team-building experiences, and pottery programs that may include hand-building techniques, glazing, kiln firing, and pottery wheel instruction.

Why It Matters for Local Families

As the Spring area continues to grow, many families are seeking activities that help children develop creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and self-confidence. Arts education provides an outlet that complements academics, athletics, and other extracurricular activities while allowing students to explore personal interests and talents.

The arrival of another dedicated arts education provider also reflects the continued diversification of family-focused amenities available throughout the Spring community. Alongside new residential development, retail growth, and educational investments, creative learning opportunities are becoming an increasingly important part of what attracts families to the area.

What Happens Next

Construction on the new Cordovan Art School is expected to begin in July and continue through the fall. If the project remains on schedule, the Gosling Road location could welcome its first students before the end of 2026.

For local families who have been looking for additional opportunities in drawing, painting, pottery, ceramics, and other creative disciplines, the new school will soon provide another place where aspiring artists of all ages can learn, create, and grow.
