Copenhagen European Kitchen & Bakery in Katy Announces Heartfelt Closure

January 13 2026

One of Katy’s most distinctive and beloved eateries, Copenhagen European Kitchen & Bakery, has announced its upcoming closure. The heartfelt message, shared on January 12, 2026, by owner and head chef Pernille Reck, marks the end of a four-year journey serving European-inspired, made-from-scratch cuisine to the Katy community.

“After four remarkable years, this chapter of our journey has come to an end,” Reck wrote in a social media post. “As we have faced the challenges of 2025, it is time for us to welcome new beginnings.” She went on to express gratitude to the customers who became friends and supporters who became family. “Your unwavering support means the world to me… While we do not have an exact closing date yet, it will be very soon.”

Located at 981 South Mason Road in Katy, Copenhagen European Kitchen & Bakery quickly earned a loyal following for its elevated take on Northern and Southern European fare—offering everything from Danish pancakes to Greek fried chicken, schnitzels, goulash, savory French toast, and a highly customizable brunch flight experience. Every dish was made from scratch with locally sourced, high-end ingredients, reflecting the family’s passion for food and authenticity. Their last day of service will be Sunday, January 18, 2026, according to the owners.

A European Culinary Haven in the Heart of Katy

More than just a restaurant, Copenhagen was a warm, family-run escape into the flavors of Europe. Guests were welcomed into a lively, homey atmosphere complete with pet-friendly outdoor seating and a thoughtfully curated menu that celebrated culinary diversity. Whether it was the rich flavors of a Hungarian goulash, the comforting nostalgia of Danish onion soup, or the indulgent pecan-crusted French toast, every meal told a story.

Its brunch menu alone became a staple for weekend dining in Katy, drawing food lovers from across the region seeking something different. Dishes like the Copenhagen Special—a layered sourdough toast with in-house cured salmon and poached egg—were praised for their originality and bold European flair.

The restaurant was even recognized for excellence three years in a row by Restaurant Guru, earning ‘Recommended’ distinctions in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

A Loss for the Katy Food Scene

Copenhagen’s closure is a notable moment for Katy’s foodies and for the broader Houston-area restaurant scene, where independently owned eateries like this one offer more than a meal—they offer meaning. Its departure highlights the continued challenges small, locally owned businesses face amid economic pressures.

The announcement has already sparked an outpouring of comments and memories from longtime patrons who cherished Copenhagen’s unique menu and warm hospitality. Diners are encouraged to visit soon to enjoy a final meal and say farewell before the restaurant closes for good.

What Copenhagen Leaves Behind

Though the restaurant will close its doors soon, its impact on the Katy community will linger. From weekend brunches to intimate celebrations, Copenhagen European Kitchen & Bakery offered a rare taste of Europe and became a culinary home for many.

Copenhagen was more than its menu—it was the people behind it, the relationships built across its tables, and the commitment to craft and community. As Pernille Reck and her team move on to new beginnings, the memories made here will remain deeply woven into Katy’s evolving food story.

For those searching online for Copenhagen European Kitchen closing, now is the time to visit and relive the experience one last time.
