For Purple Heart recipients with ties to Converse, a permanent place of recognition may soon carry their names.

The City of Converse is now accepting applications from veterans who have received the Purple Heart and have connections to Converse, with approved honorees to be recognized on the city’s Heroes Memorial. The veterans’ names are expected to be engraved on the memorial and unveiled on Veterans Day, creating a lasting tribute to service members whose sacrifices are part of the community’s own story.

Converse Purple Heart Memorial Applications Now Open

The Purple Heart is awarded to U.S. service members who are wounded or killed as a result of enemy action, making it one of the nation’s most recognized military honors.

Converse officials are asking eligible Purple Heart veterans with connections to the city to submit an application for consideration. The city’s announcement does not specify a deadline in the information provided, so veterans and families interested in the recognition may want to contact the city directly for current application details and eligibility guidance.

Names Will Be Added to Converse Heroes Memorial

Those selected will have their names engraved on the Converse Heroes Memorial, where the additions are scheduled to be unveiled on Veterans Day.
