Comal County Crochet Day Camp Offers New Braunfels Youth a Creative Summer Experience
Young people in New Braunfels have a chance to step away from their screens, work with their hands and learn a skill they can carry well beyond summer break.
The Comal County AgriLife Extension Office will host a Crochet Youth Day Camp from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 325 Resource Drive in New Braunfels. The camp is open to children and teens ages 8 to 18.
Designed for young beginners and developing crafters, the four-hour program will introduce participants to the building blocks of crochet while guiding them through a project from beginning to end.
What Children Will Learn at the New Braunfels Crochet Camp
Camp participants will practice basic crochet techniques, including how to become comfortable handling yarn and using a crochet hook. They will also learn how to read crochet patterns, giving them a foundation for following project instructions independently.
The session will place an emphasis on project completion, helping each participant understand how the individual steps come together to create a finished piece.
Beyond the craft itself, crochet can offer young people a quiet, creative outlet that encourages concentration, patience and confidence. It is also a skill that can be practiced at home, shared with family members and developed into increasingly challenging projects over time.
Registration Includes a Crochet Kit and Lunch
The cost is $40 per participant. Each camper will receive a take-home crochet kit, allowing them to continue practicing after the event. A pizza lunch is also included.
Space is limited, and families are asked to secure a spot by Friday, July 17. Registration is available by calling the Comal County AgriLife Extension Office at 830-620-3440.
