CFISD High School Baseball, Softball Standouts Earn Postseason HonorsÂ
Fourteen CFISD student-athletes representing five high schools earned all-state and regional baseball and softball accolades for the 2022-2023 season by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association (THSBCA), Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA), Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA), Houston Chronicle and VYPE Houston.
Langham Creek High School graduate Emily Simmons was named Most Valuable Player of the first-ever THSCA Class 6A Super Elite Team after leading the Lobos to the Region II-6A final. Cypress Woods High School graduate Halee Vance was named the Super Elite Team’s Catcher of the Year.
Also named to the Super Elite Team were Bridgeland High School senior Sydney Jackson and graduate Haylie Stum. Both joined Bridgeland senior Chayne Allen and graduate Trinity Allen in being named to the TGCA Class 6A All-State Team.
Cypress Ridge High School sophomore Ariel Arambula was named the Houston Chronicle’s All-Greater Houston Softball Newcomer of the Year. Trinity Allen and Bridgeland senior Dani Lopez were both named to the All-Greater Houston first team, while Simmons and Stum were second-team selections.
Jackson, Trinity Allen, Stum, Simmons, Bridgeland High School graduateLilli Piersons and Langham Creek graduate Sydney McReynolds were all named to the Public School Softball All-VYPE Team.
In baseball, Cypress Woods High School graduate Ethan Farris (shown in the leading image of this article) was selected to the THSBCA Class 6A Elite All-State team and joined his fellow standouts in an all-star game on June 18 at Dell Diamond in Round Rock. The third baseman was also named to the THSCA Class 6A Baseball Super Elite Team as the Slugger of the Year and the Houston Chronicle’s All-Greater Houston Hitter of the Year after helping lead the Wildcats to the Class 6A State Tournament.
Cypress Woods graduate Mason Green earned THSBCA Class 6A All-State first-team honors and was named to the Houston Chronicle’s All-Greater Houston first team, while fellow Wildcat graduates Chase Morgan, Tristan Russell and Brady Sullivan all earned All-Greater Houston second-team honors. Cy-Fair High School graduate Kyle Chambers was named to the THSBCA Class 6A All-State second team.
