CFISD Board to Hold Special-Called Meeting Oct. 28: Key Issues on Tax Rate, Elections & Public Input
Residents in Cypress-Fairbanks and surrounding neighborhoods are encouraged to tune in or attend in person as the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) Board of Trustees hosts a Special-Called Board Meeting on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 5:00 PM. The meeting will take place at the Mark Henry, Ed.D. Administration Building and is open to the public, with a livestream option available at cfisd.net/our-district/board-of-trustees/board-meetings.

What’s on the Agenda?
Here’s a look at some of the key issues CFISD board members will discuss and vote on during the Oct. 28 meeting:

Agreement with Harris County: Trustees will consider approving an agreement with Harris County regarding the General and Special Elections scheduled for November 4, 2025.

2025 Tax Rate Resolution: The Board will review and potentially approve the Maintenance & Operations (M&O) and Debt Service tax rates that support the upcoming 2025–2026 school year budget. This decision directly impacts local property taxes and school funding.

Financial Advisory Services: The Board will evaluate bids and contracts related to district financial planning and services.

Public Comments Welcome
The CFISD Board values input from local residents, and community participation is a cornerstone of the meeting process. Per district policy BED (Local), patrons may register to speak on agenda items during the Agenda Comments portion at the beginning of the meeting.
To Speak on an Agenda Item: Individuals must complete the electronic registration form located under each agenda item on the CFISD website. Registration opens when the agenda is posted and closes at 12:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting (Oct. 28).
Speakers must be present to speak, and time limits are based on the number of registrations:
- 15 or fewer speakers: 2 minutes per person
- 16 or more speakers: 1 minute per person
- Written comments may also be submitted if a registered speaker is unable to attend.
Closed Session Matters
As is standard in accordance with the Texas Government Code, the Board may enter a closed session to privately discuss matters such as employee evaluations, student issues, real estate, legal matters, and security protocols.
