Canyon Ranch Austin Opens in Texas Hill Country With State’s Largest Spa, Luxury Wellness Retreats and Lake Travis Views
For Texans looking to trade busy schedules, crowded calendars and everyday responsibilities for a little time to focus on their health, a new destination in the Texas Hill Country is offering a different kind of getaway. Canyon Ranch Austin has officially opened near Lake Travis, bringing a 600-acre luxury wellness resort, the largest spa in Texas and an extensive collection of health, fitness and relaxation experiences to the Austin area.
Located less than an hour from downtown Austin, the new resort combines the comforts of an upscale Hill Country retreat with medical consultations, personalized wellness programs, outdoor recreation and dining experiences. For residents throughout Central Texas and those planning a wellness weekend getaway from Houston, San Antonio or other parts of the state, the opening introduces another option for a vacation centered on rest, movement and personal well-being.
The property, which welcomed guests with its official unveiling on October 30, 2026, is the latest destination from Canyon Ranch, a wellness hospitality company founded in 1979. Its arrival also reflects the growing interest in travel experiences that go beyond traditional sightseeing, giving guests opportunities to explore healthier habits while enjoying time away from home.
A 600-Acre Wellness Resort Designed Around the Texas Hill Country
The setting is a significant part of the experience at Canyon Ranch Austin. Designed by Texas architecture firm Lake Flato, the resort sits on more than 600 acres of ranchland with rolling hills, open terrain and approximately 1.5 miles of Lake Travis shoreline.
Its 141 guest rooms overlook the surrounding landscape, while an extensive trail network provides opportunities to spend time outdoors. The architecture emphasizes connections between indoor and outdoor spaces, incorporating the natural surroundings into the overall resort experience.
Rather than organizing every stay around a fixed itinerary, Canyon Ranch offers more than 30 daily activities, along with individual consultations and specialized programming. Guests can explore topics ranging from nutrition and physical fitness to mental wellness, spirituality, recovery and long-term health.
Mark Rivers, CEO of Canyon Ranch, described the new destination as the result of years of planning and the company's nearly five decades of experience in wellness hospitality.
"The opening of Canyon Ranch Austin represents years of thoughtful planning and nearly five decades of expertise dedicated to creating a destination that serves as home to deeply personal and highly impactful experiences for our guests," Rivers said.
He also emphasized the importance of the resort's Texas setting.
"It's a place that could only exist here and is shaped by the extraordinary landscape and spirit of the Texas Hill Country."
Inside the Largest Spa in Texas: 40,000 Square Feet Dedicated to Relaxation and Recovery
The facility includes 40 treatment rooms, two pools, hot and cold therapy experiences, immersive rain showers and separate men's, women's and co-ed lounges. A salon and retail boutique are also located within the spa.
Guests can choose from massages, facials, body treatments and beauty services, as well as recovery experiences incorporating Eastern medicine practices and newer wellness technologies. Specialists trained in different service areas provide treatments and consultations.
The spa is also expected to host exclusive beauty programming, including an event featuring celebrity facialist Iván Pol, creator of The Beauty Sandwich sculpting facial.
With 40 treatment rooms, two pools and a wide selection of spa treatments, Canyon Ranch Austin gives guests plenty of ways to relax, recharge and enjoy some time away in the Texas Hill Country.
More information about treatments and services is available through the Canyon Ranch Austin spa website.
Women's Wellness Collective Brings Specialized Health Services to Austin
Beyond traditional spa treatments, Canyon Ranch Austin is introducing the Women's Wellness Collective, a dedicated program focused on women's health through different stages of life.
The initiative combines conventional medical services with complementary wellness practices and education. Its programming addresses topics including perimenopause, menopause, hormonal health, sexual health, sleep, healthy aging and major life transitions.
Available services include DEXA scans, which can provide information about bone density and body composition, along with hormonal therapy and individualized consultations. Medical services and treatment decisions depend on individual needs and clinical evaluation.
The Collective is also designed to create opportunities for conversations about health concerns that women may find difficult to address in everyday settings.
Its first scheduled retreat, Sex, Skin and Sleep, takes place November 12 through November 15, 2026. The event brings medical professionals and wellness specialists together to examine the relationship between these areas of health and overall well-being.
Additional programming announced for the remainder of 2026 includes a wellness and beauty retreat with Camila Alves McConaughey and a health and performance retreat with Dr. Stacy Sims.
Visitors can learn more through the Women's Wellness Collective program page.
Advanced Fitness, Recovery and Medical Facilities Under One Roof
Canyon Ranch Austin extends its health-focused approach into two major facilities: The Barn and The Wellspring.
The Barn is a 27,000-square-foot fitness center featuring a gym, movement studios and an outdoor field. It supports a variety of physical activities and fitness programming, giving guests opportunities to explore different forms of exercise.
The Wellspring, a 12,000-square-foot medical center, brings physicians, clinicians and health-related technology into the resort environment. It also houses CR Vitality, a specialized recovery lab.
Together, the facilities support the resort's broader approach to health and human performance, with programming that can be tailored to individual interests and goals.
The resort's offerings are designed to address multiple aspects of well-being rather than focusing exclusively on fitness or relaxation. Guests may participate in movement classes, consult with specialists, explore nutrition education or pursue recovery services during their stay.
While these programs provide access to professional guidance and wellness resources, the benefits of individual services depend on personal health circumstances and should not be interpreted as guaranteed medical outcomes.
Michelin-Recognized Culinary Leadership Brings a New Dining Experience to Lake Travis
Food is another central component of the Canyon Ranch Austin experience, with two restaurants included as part of the resort's all-inclusive stay.
The Flying X Café offers a more casual dining environment, while Estella provides a fine-dining experience.
The culinary program is led by Culinary Director Val Cantú, a Central Texas native known for his San Francisco restaurant, Californios. The restaurant holds three Michelin stars and was the first Mexican restaurant to receive that distinction.
Executive Chef Blake Ransom oversees the resort's daily menus.
The dining program brings together culinary creativity and Canyon Ranch's longstanding emphasis on nutrition, offering guests another way to explore the relationship between food, health and enjoyment.
For visitors who appreciate exceptional dining as much as relaxation, the resort's restaurants add another dimension to a Hill Country getaway.
Canyon Ranch Austin Introduces Luxury Homes Starting at $3.8 Million
Canyon Ranch Austin is also introducing a residential component for buyers interested in making the resort's wellness-oriented lifestyle a permanent part of their lives.
Known as the Ranch Home Collection, the development features 134 homesites ranging from approximately 0.8 to 3.7 acres. The company's overview also describes a planned community of 131 homes.
Lake Flato has developed three residential designs inspired by the surrounding Hill Country landscape, with homes ranging from approximately 3,200 to 4,800 square feet.
Prices begin at $3.8 million.
The residential offering includes access to concierge health care and is intended to connect private homeownership with Canyon Ranch's broader wellness services.
The project represents a different approach to luxury residential development, where access to health, fitness and lifestyle programming is incorporated into the property's overall concept.
Prospective buyers can find additional details through the Ranch Home Collection website.
Getting to Canyon Ranch Austin: Transportation and Guest Experience
Canyon Ranch Austin is located less than one hour from downtown Austin, although actual travel times will vary depending on traffic and departure location.
The resort has partnered with luxury automotive brand Genesis to provide transportation between Austin-area airports and the property using a fleet of specialty vehicles.
The transportation experience is included as part of the resort's all-inclusive hospitality offering, according to Canyon Ranch.
Travelers considering a visit should review the resort's current packages, rates, booking requirements and service inclusions before making reservations, particularly because specialized consultations, treatments and retreat programming may have separate conditions or availability.
A New Chapter for Canyon Ranch, From Tucson to Texas
The Austin opening builds on a history that began in 1979, when Canyon Ranch established its original wellness resort.
Today, the company offers more than 1,500 services across its properties, encompassing nutrition, fitness, spa treatments, mental health, spirituality, medical wellness and performance.
Its established destinations include Canyon Ranch Tucson in Arizona and Canyon Ranch Lenox in Massachusetts.
Canyon Ranch Tucson received Three Michelin Keys in 2024, 2025 and 2026 and was named the No. 1 Wellness Resort in the Americas by the Michelin Guide, according to the company. Canyon Ranch Lenox has received Two Michelin Keys.
The brand also operates Canyon Ranch Spa at The Venetian in Las Vegas, which it identifies as North America's largest day spa. In 2023, it opened its first Canyon Ranch Wellness Club and Spa in Fort Worth, expanding its presence in Texas before the launch of the Austin resort.
With the new Lake Travis destination, Canyon Ranch is bringing its resort model to a region already known for outdoor recreation, luxury hospitality and Hill Country travel.
