Barking Dogs in Harvest Bend

Barking Dogs in Harvest Bend

November 15 2023

There are a lot of dog lovers in our neighborhood. Even if you are a dog lover, you are probably not a fan of a constantly barking dog that is left outside. So, what to do??

You can talk to your neighbor in a calm and factual manner about the stress you have from the constant barking. You may work from home and the noise impacts your job. Someone in the household may work odd hours and is asleep during the day. Or it’s just annoying. If they don’t answer their door, leave a written message.

They may be willing to give you a cell phone number so you can send a quick text if the dog is barking late at night.  Most situations like this can be resolved with calm and reasonable communication with the dog owner.

If communication fails and you believe the animal is not being treated well, calling the SPCA may be an option. The Houston SPCA is a no-kill shelter. They do not euthanize healthy dogs because of time and space. They also work with other shelters and rescue organizations. There are exceptions for non-treatable infectious diseases and overly aggressive dogs.

If you have a dog or dogs, please be mindful of how your dogs might be bothering your neighbor. Our homes are fairly close together, so please be mindful of what you and/or your pets are doing outside. Thank you for your efforts to help keep Harvest Bend safe and peaceful for all residents.
