High school seniors in the Cy-Fair Independent School District (CFISD) now have the opportunity to apply for scholarships through the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF).
In the spring of 2024, CFEF will be awarding nearly $900,000 to CFISD graduating seniors. The application process is exclusively for CFISD seniors, and interested students can submit their applications online by visiting the foundation's website. The application period for CFISD graduating seniors is currently open, and the deadline for submissions is January 12, 2024.
With a legacy dating back to 1970, the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation has been dedicated to providing college scholarships for graduating seniors in the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. Since 1998, the foundation has also focused on raising funds for staff development grants, furthering its commitment to education. The application process is an integral part of CFEF's vision to empower today's students and nurture them into tomorrow's leaders through higher education.
Scholarship qualifications may vary, but typically include factors such as leadership, academics, and a significant emphasis on financial need. All students are encouraged to apply, and as applicants navigate the process, they will discover that many scholarships have unique requirements and qualifications tailored to specific situations.
To be eligible for consideration, all required paperwork, including an official transcript and a copy of that transcript, must be completed and submitted to the student's counselor by January 19, 2024. According to CFEF, applications without the necessary supporting documents will be deemed incomplete and will not be reviewed. The required parent information includes the most recent tax return, with W-2s not considered as acceptable substitutes.
As CFISD expands with the opening of new high schools, and the cost of education continues to rise, CFEF acknowledges the need to broaden its donor base to support more students and staff. With 12 high schools in the district as of 2017, CFEF has consistently awarded scholarships at each institution and plans to continue this practice. The foundation encourages community participation, inviting individuals to contribute to CFEF and help students discover brighter futures.
For any inquiries about the scholarship application process, students and parents can contact CFEF directly at 281-370-0144.
