Fort Bend County Continues Relief Efforts with Another Food, Water, and Supplies Drive Amid Ongoing Recovery from Hurricane Beryl

July 15 2024

In an ongoing effort to support the recovery processes after the devastating Hurricane Beryl last Monday, the Fort Bend County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management has announced another food, water, and supplies drive to be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, starting at 4:00 PM at the Fort Bend Epicenter, located at 28505 Southwest Fwy, Rosenberg, TX 77471.

The distribution event, which follows a successful drive held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, is a result of the continued partnership with the Houston Food Bank. It will run while supplies last, potentially serving numerous families in need across the county.

Driven by dedicated volunteers, the Texas State Guard, and partnering groups, the previous effort saw over 500 vehicles served and recorded a significant impact on local families. "Seeing so many families receive the support they need after Hurricane Beryl was truly heartwarming. None of this would have been possible without our incredible volunteers and partners. Your dedication and kindness embody the spirit of Fort Bend County.," said Judge KP George.

Although power has been restored to thousands of residents and local businesses, many remain in the dark. According to county officials, there are still 4,615 power outages with several facilities including libraries, parks, and community centers yet to reopen. The ongoing power crisis is also impacting key services such as internet connectivity in some areas.

As part of the recovery efforts that are currently underway, debris pickup is taking place in multiple areas across the county including Beasley, Booth, Brazos Lakes, Whaley Corner, Brazos Valley, Crabb Road Area, Fairchild, Meadow Place, Missouri City, Needville, Pecan Grove, Richmond, Rosenberg, Sienna Plantation, Sienna Point, and Weston Lakes.

As Fort Bend County braces for recovery and rebuilding, the scheduled food, water, and supplies drive serves as a reassurance for the affected families. "Thank you for standing with us and supporting one another. Together, we will always rise to meet any challenge," said Judge KP George.
