Fort Bend County to Host Food, Water and Cleaning Supplies Drive at Fort Bend Epicenter
On Sunday, July 14, 2024, the Fort Bend Epicenter, located at 28505 Southwest Freeway, Rosenberg, TX 77471, will transform into a lifeline for residents still coping with the devastating effects of Hurricane Beryl. The destructive hurricane swept through the area on Monday, July 8, leaving many residents without power and causing dangerous conditions with sweltering heat advisories. The prolonged power outage also caused widespread food spoilage, and local grocery stores have been working around the clock to restock shelves as many stores have also felt the negatives effects of the outage.
In a cooperative effort, the Houston Food Bank, the Fort Bend County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and Fort Bend County Judge KP George are coming together to distribute food, water and cleaning supplies. The distribution will begin at 11:00 AM on Sunday, July 14 and will continue until supplies last.
Cleaning supplies are also among the necessary items being distributed. These resources can aid in the removal of debris and help in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, a critical factor to prevent the spread of disease in the fallout of a natural disaster.
Residents of Fort Bend County who have been affected by Hurricane Beryl are encouraged to attend this event and take advantage of the available supplies. Follow the Fort Bend County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Facebook page for updates at facebook.com/fbcoem.
