Empowering Young Women: Join the Fort Bend Teen Service League and Make a Difference in Your Community

July 26 2024

All young women in 7th to 12th grade across Fort Bend County are cordially invited to take the step towards making a significant impact in their community by joining the Fort Bend Teen Service League (FBTSL). Born out of a project from the Fort Bend Junior Service League (FBJSL), FBTSL has a long-standing tradition of instilling a sense of responsibility and leadership within its participants through educational and cultural events, philanthropy and a strong commitment to community service.

The purpose of the FBTSL, a 501(c)(3) organization, is not just educational and charitable, but also to foster a friendly environment of goodwill. It encourages its members to extend their capabilities and grow as responsible citizens by taking part in community-focused activities.

FBTSL traces its history back to 2005 when determined members of FBJSL felt the need to inspire their teenage daughters and local youth to commit to responsible community service. This inspiration led to the formation of Fort Bend Teen Service League, a platform to carry forward the joy of service and charity to the next generation. Over the years, FBTSL has consistently expanded, welcoming its inaugural class in spring 2006 with more than 80 members.

Currently, the league has over 70 active teenage members who have devoted countless hours to volunteering in various community service projects. The league's members are carefully guided and mentored by the Teen League Adult Advisory Board and the Advisory Committee, composed of FBJSL members, ensuring the young women have the support they need.

FBTSL is also thrilled to launch a new Pilot Program aimed at 7th and 8th-grade preteens and teens. This program encourages younger students to volunteer with their guardians, who must be FBJSL members, fostering a strong sense of unity, leadership, and service within families.

Come and attend any of the upcoming informational events to learn more about FBTSL:

Additional details regarding the new Pilot Program for 7th & 8th graders will be shared during these informationals. Eligibility requires the female parent or guardian to be or become a member of FBJSL. Registration for the 2024-2025 Teen League Year is now open and invites potential members to enroll by visiting the FBJSL website at fbjsl.org/join/teen-league
