YMCA Run Thru the Woods Returns Thanksgiving Morning with Family Fun, Fitness, and Community Spirit
One of The Woodlands’ most heartwarming holiday traditions is back for its 34th year as families, friends, and neighbors prepare to gather for the YMCA Run Thru the Woods on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 27, 2025.
Held at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, this high-energy event welcomes more than 5,000 participants each year and has raised more than $2.75 million for local non-profits that support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in The Woodlands, Spring, and Oak Ridge communities.
Whether you're chasing a personal best or just chasing your kids in a stroller, there's a race for everyone—plus costumes, music, medals, and plenty of post-race cheer.
A Morning to Move with Meaning
The morning begins bright and early, and it's more than just a run—it's a celebration of community, gratitude, and giving back.

Four race options offer something for every fitness level and age group:

3 Mile Run (8:25 AM) – A great all-ages challenge with similar awards to the 5-mile.
-
3 Mile Walk (8:30 AM) – Perfect for families and those looking to enjoy the atmosphere while supporting a great cause.
All participants receive a finisher medal, t-shirt, and goodie bag, and there will be complimentary refreshments, kids’ activities, and post-race fun waiting at the finish line.
Come for the Cause, Stay for the Fun
The Run Thru the Woods is more than a race—it’s a way for the community to come together and make a difference. Proceeds support vital local programs like life-saving swim lessons, after-school care, youth sports, summer camps, and outreach services through The Woodlands Family YMCA Annual Campaign and other youth-focused charities.
“Every dollar raised is an investment in our community,” organizers shared. “This event brings people together in a healthy, joyful way while supporting the Y’s commitment to making programs accessible for all.”
Families are encouraged to dress in festive holiday gear—think turkey hats, tutus, and themed t-shirts—and tag their best race-day moments on social media to share the fun with the community and race organizers.
