For residents of West Memorial, an upcoming Cypress town hall offers something that can be hard to find in the middle of everyday life: a chance to speak directly with the county commissioner who represents their community.

Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones will host her final in-person town hall of 2026 on Saturday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Richard & Meg Weekley Community Center, located at 8440 Greenhouse Road in Cypress. Precinct 4 describes the event as an opportunity for residents to hear updates on key projects, share ideas and provide feedback directly to Briones. 

A chance to ask questions about issues close to home

For West Memorial residents in Harris County Precinct 4, the meeting creates a direct line to county government on issues that can affect daily life, from roads and infrastructure to parks, community services and flood mitigation.

The program is expected to include updates from Commissioner Briones as well as the Harris County Flood Control District, giving residents an opportunity to hear more about flood-related work and priorities. The Flood Control District oversees projects and maintenance programs designed to reduce flood risk across Harris County, including work involving channels, stormwater detention basins and other drainage infrastructure.

That flood control discussion may be especially relevant for homeowners across the Cypress area, where drainage and stormwater management remain closely watched community issues.

More than a government meeting

The free event is also being designed with families in mind. Organizers say the town hall will include children's activities, student performances and connections to community services, along with Spanish interpretation to help more residents participate.

The Weekley Community Center itself is a familiar gathering place for Cypress-area families. The approximately 21,000-square-foot facility serves residents of all ages through recreation, classes, community events and other programming. 

For families in West Memorial, that makes the town hall an accessible way to learn more about county projects while also putting questions and neighborhood priorities directly in front of Precinct 4 leadership.

The Harris County Precinct 4 Town Hall is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, October 3, at the Richard & Meg Weekley Community Center, 8440 Greenhouse Road, Cypress, TX 77433. Attendance is free.
