West Memorial Junior High in Katy Celebrates 50 Years of Community and Education

January 07 2026

A beloved part of Katy ISD for five decades, West Memorial Junior High (WMJH) is inviting alumni, students, families, faculty—past and present—and the wider community to come together in celebration of its 50th anniversary. The golden milestone commemorates the school’s service and impact from 1976 to 2026.

The 50-year celebration event will take place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM in the WMJH Café, located at 22311 Provincial Blvd, Katy, TX 77450. The gathering will feature reflections on the school's history, moments of recognition, and the opportunity to connect across generations of Jaguars. For more information, community members can reach out to 281-237-6400 or email elizabethdcorn@katyisd.org

This community-focused event not only marks a significant chapter in Katy education history, but also highlights the deep roots WMJH has grown within the West Memorial neighborhood and surrounding areas. Since opening its doors in 1976, the junior high has played a vital role in shaping the educational journey of thousands of Katy students. Its legacy includes academic excellence, school spirit, and a strong sense of community.

In true celebratory spirit, the evening promises to be a time of reflection, appreciation, and looking ahead to the future. The theme boldly honors the years that span the school's legacy: 1976–2026.

Whether you walked the halls decades ago or are part of the current jaguar family, the 50th anniversary is a chance to reconnect with classmates, educators, and friends while honoring a school that has stood as a cornerstone of education and community in Katy for half a century.

As Katy continues to grow, West Memorial Junior High remains a symbol of stability and tradition—an institution that has not only educated but also inspired and united generations.

This event is open to all—alumni, current students and families, faculty, staff, and Katy-area residents. Be part of this historic evening as WMJH reflects on its past and looks forward to the next 50 years.
