West Memorial Families Invited to Back-to-School Movie Night at the Pool on Aug. 7
For West Memorial families, the final stretch of summer is bringing one more reason to gather at the neighborhood pool before school routines return.
West Memorial Friends and the West Memorial Civic Association will host a Back-to-School Movie at the Pool from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. The resident-only event will give neighbors a relaxed evening to swim, watch a family-friendly movie and spend time together close to home.
A Summer Movie Night Close to Home
The movie is expected to begin around 8 p.m., with residents encouraged to bring pool floats and settle in for an outdoor screening. Organizers will provide complimentary popcorn and lemonade for attendees.
The movie selection has not yet been announced. West Memorial Friends is inviting residents to share their preferred movie choices, provided the suggested title is available through a streaming service.
For families preparing for the start of a new school year, the event offers a simple break between shopping for supplies, adjusting sleep schedules and getting ready for the first day of class. It is also an opportunity for children to reconnect with neighborhood friends and for adults to visit with nearby families.
What West Memorial Residents Should Know
The Back-to-School Movie at the Pool is open only to West Memorial residents.
Attendees may bring floats for use in the pool, but organizers have asked residents to follow several event rules:
- No glass containers
- No alcohol
- No cooking on Kingsland
Residents should bring any additional pool gear, towels or seating they may need for the evening.
Building Community Before the School Year Begins
Neighborhood events such as movie nights, pool gatherings and seasonal celebrations can help residents meet the people who live around them while giving families an affordable activity without leaving the community.
For West Memorial, the Aug. 7 movie night is designed to be an easygoing sendoff to summer—one that brings neighbors together before school calendars, extracurricular activities and fall commitments begin filling up family schedules.
The event is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 7, from 8 to 11 p.m. at the West Memorial pool. The final movie choice will be announced after resident suggestions are reviewed.
