Welcome to Sunset Oaks: Meet New Community Manager Jaclyn May
Whether she's helping answer questions, addressing concerns, or working behind the scenes to keep the community running smoothly, Jaclyn May is excited to begin serving residents of Sunset Oaks as the community's new Association Manager.
Joining the community through SBB Community Management, May brings more than five years of HOA management experience and a resident-focused approach built on communication, kindness, and responsiveness. While every community has its own unique personality, she believes strong relationships and open dialogue are at the heart of a successful neighborhood.
As the new community manager for Sunset Oaks, May says her goal is simple: to be a resource residents can count on.
A Texas Journey Rooted in Family
May's journey across Texas began in Spring before her family relocated to Dallas during her teenage years. At 18, she made San Antonio home, where she continues to enjoy the area's culture, family-friendly atmosphere, and sense of community.
Outside of work, May enjoys kayaking, working on puzzles, watching baseball, and spending time with her family. She is also a proud wife and mother of three children.
When asked how her family and friends would describe her, May chose three words: reserved, sweet, and loving—qualities that help shape the way she approaches both life and community service.
Finding a Career in Community Management
May earned an associate degree in Business Management and initially worked in the hospitality industry. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, she found her way into community association management, a career path that allowed her to combine customer service, problem-solving, and relationship building.
Before joining SBB Management, May spent more than five years with a sister company, where she gained valuable experience serving homeowners and communities. She saw joining SBB as an opportunity for continued growth while expanding her ability to serve residents.
One of the aspects of community management she enjoys most is helping improve homeowners' perceptions and understanding of their associations.
A People-First Approach
For May, successful community management starts with treating people with respect. She believes the best way to serve residents is by leading with patience, empathy, and a genuine willingness to help.
That philosophy helps guide her interactions with residents, boards, and community partners alike.
May says one of the challenges she finds most rewarding is helping resolve neighbor-to-neighbor concerns and working toward positive outcomes that strengthen community relationships.
Building Strong Communication in Sunset Oaks
As she begins serving Sunset Oaks, May's priorities center on two things residents consistently value: responsiveness and communication.
She says her focus will be on providing fast responses, maintaining open communication, and ensuring residents have the information they need when questions or concerns arise.
What Residents Can Expect
May hopes residents will view her as a trusted resource and a supportive partner for the community.
Rather than seeing community management as simply enforcing rules or processing requests, she views her role as helping residents navigate challenges, find answers, and stay connected to the community they call home.
"I hope residents see that I am a support tool for their community."
Looking Ahead
As Sunset Oaks continues to grow and evolve, May looks forward to getting to know residents and helping support the neighborhood's continued success.
Whether residents have questions, concerns, ideas, or simply want to introduce themselves, she encourages them to reach out.
