Volunteer to Pack Meals for Children in Need at the Katy Packathon
In an effort to combat hunger, Feed the Hunger, a Christian nonprofit organization, is gearing up for another large-scale food packaging event. The Katy Packathon is taking place from the 22nd to the 24th of February, 2024, where the community will rally together help pack part of the 1 million nutritious meals goal for children in need in 2024. This initiative goes beyond borders, impacting communities both locally and internationally.
Set to take place at Faith West Academy in Katy, the Packathon promises to be a heartwarming event full of camaraderie and community spirit. Promising to be "the most fun you will have in a hair net," Katy residents are encouraged to invite everyone from families and friends, to co-workers and community organizations to join in. It's a unique opportunity to contribute to an amazing "mission trip" right in their own backyard.
What makes this event even more noteworthy is the impact each participant can have. In just two hours, each volunteer can package around 240 meals. This equates to enough food to feed one child lunch for an entire school year. Isn't that astounding to imagine your couple of hours could significantly change a child's life for a whole year?
The Packathon extends its reach far beyond Katy, with Feed the Hunger having strategic partners in 26 countries. Established in 1968, the organization has been dedicated to feeding the physical and spiritual hunger in needy people, especially children. Their meals are distributed to some of the poorest areas in the US and through local food relief partners right here in Katy.
Whether or not you can attend the Packathon, your contribution can still make a difference. Donations can be made to sponsor meals for the children in need. Additionally, checks can be mailed to their office. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps in fulfilling the goal of feeding the hungry and making a lasting impact.
