Two New Shops Bring Fresh Energy to Katy’s Historic Town Square

August 25 2025

Historic Downtown Katy had reason to celebrate this past weekend as two locally owned businesses officially joined the Town Square lineup. Sandra V’s Bath & Body Shop and Threads of Grace Boutique both held grand opening celebrations, drawing in residents eager to welcome the new shops and discover what each has to offer.

The additions mark a continued revival of Katy’s historic district, where small businesses are reshaping the heart of downtown into a hub of shopping, dining, and community connection.

Threads of Grace: Fashion with Purpose

Located at 5725 2nd Street, Threads of Grace is more than a boutique—it’s a mission-driven space led by owner Amanda Hammers, who brings 25 years of fashion buying experience and a strong foundation in ministry. Hammers previously owned J Barton Clothiers and has now turned her focus to creating a boutique that blends style with meaningful impact.

Threads of Grace features a rotating collection of chic, faith-inspired clothing and colorful accessories, offering everything from embroidered tops to modern dresses. But behind every rack is a greater purpose. Purchases help fund programs that support women overcoming domestic violence, incarceration, poverty, or trauma.

“We want you to feel good about what you wear — not just because it looks amazing, but because it carries a story of resilience and hope,” the shop’s mission statement reads.

Shoppers can browse in-store or book a personal styling session with Hammers to curate looks that fit their lifestyle. More than just fashion, Threads of Grace is building a community where women can feel celebrated and empowered—and for those who wish, Amanda and her team also offer to pray over customers as part of their journey of encouragement and faith.

Sandra V’s Bath & Body Shop: Wellness, Handcrafted

Just next door at 5729 2nd Street, Sandra V’s Bath & Body Shop has been drawing attention with its handcrafted, small-batch approach to skincare. Owner Sandra V began creating products after her personal health journey with rheumatoid arthritis and lupus led her to seek healthier alternatives.

Her shop offers bath bombs, body butters, soaps, scrubs, shower steamers, hair care, and even essential oil blends—all made without parabens, sulfates, or harsh irritants. Customers can even watch as products are crafted behind a clear partition in the store, a feature Sandra says keeps the process transparent and fun for guests.

“Remember; It’s not magic my friends, it’s maintenance,” Sandra explains, encouraging customers to see skincare as an investment in long-term wellness rather than a quick fix.

The store also emphasizes sustainability, with refillable or recyclable packaging and cruelty-free, high-quality ingredients. From self-care gifts to daily skincare staples, Sandra V’s shop offers a natural alternative for those seeking healthier routines.

A Growing Downtown Katy Community

The opening of these two businesses reflects the growing momentum of Katy’s Historic Town Square as a destination for shopping and community events. Locals have already begun stopping by, supporting the shops, and spreading the word.

Community leaders and business owners alike see these additions as a sign that the downtown district continues to flourish—creating space for entrepreneurs while preserving Katy’s small-town charm.
