For families in the Creekside Park area, the start of the 2026–27 school year brings more than a new classroom wing. It marks the beginning of a different kind of school experience in Tomball ISD, one designed to keep students together through a key stretch of their academic and social development.

Tomball ISD celebrated the completion of its new fifth-grade addition at Creekside Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 11, formally transforming the former Creekside Park Junior High into Creekside Park, the district’s first and only campus serving students in grades 5 through 8.

The project, funded through Tomball ISD’s voter-approved 2021 Bond Program, represents a significant investment in a part of the district continuing to accommodate enrollment growth. For families, the most noticeable change is that fifth-graders will now begin their intermediate years on the same campus where they can remain through eighth grade.

“This is more than a new addition—it represents new opportunities for students,” Tomball ISD Superintendent Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora said. “Beginning this school year, Creekside Park becomes Tomball ISD's first and only 5th through 8th grade campus, creating a one-of-a-kind learning experience designed to support students as they learn, grow and prepare for high school and beyond. We are grateful to our community for its support of the 2021 Bond Program, which continues to make transformational projects like this possible.”

A New Grade 5–8 Model for Tomball ISD Families

The new Creekside Park campus model is intended to provide greater continuity during the years between elementary school and high school, a period when students are adjusting to new academic expectations, greater independence and changing social environments.

By placing fifth through eighth grades on one campus, Tomball ISD says students can move through their intermediate and junior high years with stronger continuity in relationships, programs and campus culture.

Principal Tara Bailey will continue leading Creekside Park as the school welcomes both intermediate and junior high students under the expanded model.

“It is truly an honor to lead Creekside Park as Tomball ISD's only 5–8 campus,” Bailey said. “While this beautiful building is something we are all proud of, what excites me even more are the people who will fill it each day. It will be our staff who pour their hearts into growing every student, our students who walk through these doors ready to learn and discover, and our families who entrust us with their greatest gift—their children. We are excited to embrace every opportunity this new chapter brings.”

For parents searching for information about Creekside Park Tomball ISD, Tomball ISD fifth grade schools or the district’s new grades 5–8 campus model, the change means Creekside Park will now serve a wider age range than a traditional junior high campus.

What Was Added at Creekside Park

The fifth-grade addition is located at 8711 Creekside Green Drive in Tomball, in Harris County.

Construction began Dec. 11, 2024, and was originally projected for completion on June 4, 2026. The project carried an estimated cost of $23.7 million and involved additions to the existing school building.

The scope of work included a two-story fifth-grade addition, an expansion of the cafeteria and renovations to cafeteria finishes, including replacement flooring, paint and lay-in ceilings. The additions were also designed as an extension of the existing fire building system.

Project information lists the facility at 299,865 square feet.

Tomball ISD’s Facilities and Construction team led the work in partnership with LAN, Huckabee, GTT General Contractors, School Specialty and G&L Installation.

2021 Bond Program Continues to Shape Tomball ISD Growth

The Creekside Park fifth-grade addition is one of the projects made possible by Tomball ISD voters through the district’s 2021 Bond Program, which was approved to address enrollment growth and improve learning environments across the district.

That continued investment carries particular significance as Tomball ISD serves a growing area spanning northwest Harris County and southwest Montgomery County.

“Today's celebration is a direct result of our community's investment in public education,” Tomball ISD Board President Mark Lewandowski said. “This fifth-grade addition provides students with new opportunities to learn, collaborate and thrive while ensuring Creekside Park is well-positioned to serve families for years to come. We are grateful to everyone who helped bring this vision to life.”

For taxpayers and families, projects such as the Creekside Park expansion provide a visible example of how bond-funded construction is being used to create additional capacity and adapt existing campuses as enrollment patterns change.

Creekside Park Begins a New Chapter

Founded in 1908, Tomball ISD now serves more than 23,300 students across 26 campuses in northwest Harris County and southwest Montgomery County. Creekside Park’s transition from a junior high campus to a school serving grades 5 through 8 adds a new model to that system.

The change will be watched closely as students and teachers settle into the expanded campus this school year. For Creekside Park families, however, the most immediate impact is already here: fifth-graders now have a new place to begin the next stage of school, while older students remain part of the same campus community through eighth grade.
