For the third consecutive year, Tomball Independent School District has earned statewide recognition for helping students prepare for life beyond high school, giving local families another reason to feel confident about the career and technical education opportunities available in their schools.

The district was named a 2026-2027 Career and Technical Education (CTE) District of Distinction by the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT), joining just 91 school districts across Texas selected for the honor.

Announced October 13, 2026, the recognition highlights Tomball ISD's ongoing investment in career-focused learning, industry partnerships and educational programs that give students practical experience before they graduate.

What the CTE District of Distinction Award Means for Tomball ISD Students

For Tomball-area families, the recognition reflects opportunities that can make a meaningful difference in a student's future, whether that means attending college, pursuing technical training or entering the workforce.

Tomball ISD currently offers 28 Career and Technical Education programs of study across 13 career clusters, allowing students to explore different career interests while developing technical skills and working toward industry-based certifications.

These programs help connect what students learn in the classroom with skills used in the workplace, providing opportunities to discover potential career paths before making decisions about education and employment after high school.

Tomball ISD Director of CTE Karla Sandoval credited the district's educators, students and industry partners for making the recognition possible.

“We are deeply honored that Tomball ISD has been recognized as a 2026-2027 CTAT District of Distinction! Receiving this award for the third consecutive year is a proud milestone for our entire district and reflects the dedication of our educators, students, and industry partners. We remain committed to ensuring that our students graduate with the technical skills, certifications, and real-world experience needed to excel in tomorrow’s workforce,” Sandoval said.

Career and Technical Education Connects Tomball Classrooms With Workforce Opportunities

Career and Technical Education has become an important part of helping Texas students prepare for an evolving job market. Through career-focused coursework, hands-on learning and connections with industry professionals, CTE programs provide another way for students to build skills while completing their high school education.

In Tomball ISD, the district's 28 programs of study are designed to align with workforce needs while giving students flexibility to pursue their individual interests and goals.

Industry-based certifications are another important component, allowing students to work toward credentials that may be valuable as they pursue additional education, training or employment.

For parents considering their children's educational options, these opportunities can help make the transition from high school to the next chapter more purposeful, particularly for students who want to explore career possibilities before graduation.

How Texas School Districts Earn CTE District of Distinction Recognition

The CTE District of Distinction program, established by the Career and Technical Association of Texas, recognizes school districts demonstrating exemplary leadership, innovation and commitment to student achievement through high-quality career and technical education.

Districts are evaluated on several factors, including innovative programming, opportunities to earn industry-based certifications, alignment with workforce needs and student outcomes.

Tomball ISD's selection for the third consecutive year reflects its continued emphasis on maintaining and developing programs that connect academic learning with career preparation.

Being among 91 districts recognized statewide for 2026-2027 also places Tomball ISD within a select group of Texas school systems acknowledged for their CTE efforts.
