Some of Tomball ISD’s latest bond projects were ready for students when the school year began. Others are still taking shape. The district’s September update covers both, from 40 new buses already on the road to work underway at the Transportation Center.

At Tomball West High School, the agricultural project barn and competitive soccer field have reached substantial completion, with final items still being addressed. The West Complex’s final connections to the district’s wastewater treatment plant were made in August, and the system was operating before classes began. Tomball West opened this year to ninth- and 10th-grade students and will add a grade level each year. 

Creekside Park began the year with a new setup, too. Tomball ISD celebrated the opening of its fifth-grade addition on August 11. Formerly Creekside Park Junior High, it is now the district’s only campus serving grades five through eight. The district says the arrangement is intended to provide more continuity as students move through their intermediate and junior high years.

Both projects are part of the $494.46 million bond program voters approved in 2021. Tomball ISD lists a $241.2 million project budget for Tomball West High School, $11.3 million for its agricultural project barn and competition soccer field, and $32 million for the Creekside Park fifth-grade expansion. Those figures are project budgets, not final construction costs. 

Other improvements come from the $429.095 million bond program voters approved in 2025. At Tomball High School, the football field received new artificial turf and the track received a new surface with colored exchange zones. The 2025 bond includes $2.8 million for updates to the original Tomball High School stadium, covering a broader scope of turf, track and lighting work. That amount should not be read as the cost of the summer turf and track work alone. 

Gym floor replacements were completed over the summer at Tomball Elementary, Decker Prairie Elementary, Willow Creek Elementary, Rosehill Elementary and Tomball Intermediate. The work is part of a longer-term effort to bring older campuses into alignment with district standards.

Transportation brought one of the update’s most immediate results. Forty school buses arrived over the summer and were on the road for the start of the 2026–27 school year, sooner than the nearly yearlong delivery timeline originally expected. Site work continues on a Transportation Center expansion designed to accommodate a total of 365 buses and 304 staff vehicles. Plans also include realigned entrances, a new security gate, lighting, fencing and cameras.

The district is rolling out the second phase of its staff device refresh. Devices have been received, with deployment scheduled or underway at Creekside Park, Northpointe Intermediate, Canyon Pointe Elementary, Wildwood Elementary, Willow Wood Junior High, Oakcrest Intermediate, Lakewood Elementary and Willow Creek Elementary.

For safety and daily operations, the first phase of a districtwide radio communication system is complete at the Tomball Event Center, providing coverage for the West Complex, the Elmer & Beckendorf Educational Complex and bus transportation radios. Infrastructure upgrades at Tomball High School, Tomball Memorial High School and Creekside Park are planned for the next phase.

Tomball ISD said the 2025 bond was planned without an increase to the district’s total tax rate. Bond funds pay for capital projects and equipment and cannot be used for daily operating expenses such as salaries or utilities.
