The Filling Station Breaks Ground at Upcoming Indigo Neighborhood in Fort Bend County

May 15 2024

Construction has officially begun on The Filling Station at Indigo in Fort Bend County, as announced by Houston-based real estate development company, Meristem Communities. The Filling Station, a general store and welcome center, is the first building to commence construction within the highly-anticipated Indigo neighborhood.

Located at the heart of the 235-acre Indigo neighborhood, The Filling Station is set to be the primary stop for visitors. Envisioned as a central hub of activity, this approximately 3,000-square-foot space is due to open towards the end of 2024.

Founded by Clayton Garrett and Scott Snodgrass in 2021, Meristem Communities is focused on enhancing communities through mindful design. As the construction progresses, Meristem anticipates that small businesses in and around Indigo Commons will drive further development and engagement within the community.

“The start of construction at The Filling Station signifies a major milestone in Indigo’s narrative. The small businesses we’re looking come to Indigo Commons will play a pivotal role in the development of Indigo’s identity," said Clayton Garrett, partner at Meristem Communities.

Drawing inspiration from classic 1930s gas stations, The Filling Station promises not only to be a vibrant center of activity, but also the heart of community connections. To meet the needs of residents and visitors alike, developers are planning The Filling Station to fulfill consumer demands within a new community, like Indigo.

"We know from consumer data that one of the top-ranked built amenities consumers desire in a new community is a coffee shop or casual eatery within walking distance of their homes. It’s important to us that we consistently create places that deliver on peoples’ preferences," said Scott Snodgrass, partner at Meristem Communities.

Additionally, The Filling Station will also act as a neighborhood market, offering everything from fresh produce from Indigo Farm to local goods and sundries. Acting as a central hub within the community, The Filling Station will also serve as a welcome center for prospective residents and visitors alike. Here, patrons will be able to access a wealth of information about Indigo's lifestyle, amenities, events, and overarching vision.

While the construction of The Filling Station is underway, The Collective at Indigo Commons is set to host a series of community events starting June 2024. The commencement of these events aligns with the expected start of sales for Phase One homes at Indigo.
