Supporting Second Chances: Fort Bend County Initiative Funds Education, Essentials, and Mentorship for At-Risk Youth
A fall-themed raffle is giving Fort Bend County residents the opportunity to support local youth involved in the juvenile justice system—while entering to win a basket full of high-value prizes.
The Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation Department (FBCJPD) is hosting its annual Fall Raffle Basket Fundraiser to benefit the Children’s Fund of Fort Bend Partnership for Youth, Inc. (FBPFY), a nonprofit organization that has worked for nearly 30 years to meet the basic and long-term needs of court-involved youth across the county.
Proceeds from the raffle help provide items and services that are not covered by traditional funding—offering young people the dignity, resources, and encouragement needed to pursue education, stability, and healthy decision-making.
More Than a Fundraiser—A Lifeline for Youth
Founded in 1996, Fort Bend Partnership for Youth, Inc. supports youth between the ages of 10 and 17 who are involved in the juvenile justice system by providing access to mentorship, personal necessities, and rehabilitation-focused programming.
Through its Children’s Fund, the nonprofit directly supports FBCJPD by helping to cover urgent and unmet needs such as:
-
Clothing, shoes, and hygiene items
-
Glasses, medical copays, and prescriptions
-
GED classes, exam fees, and tutoring
-
School supplies, graduation dues, and prom attire
-
Gas money or public transit for attending court programs
-
Household essentials for transitioning families
FBPFY also coordinates a Mentoring Program, pairing young people with community volunteers who commit to weekly, in-person visits. These mentorships offer accountability, emotional support, and positive adult role models.

Inside juvenile detention facilities, volunteer mentors also participate in a Detention Mentoring Program, meeting with youth who may not receive visitors otherwise.
Special programs funded by FBPFY include:
-
TOBIL Program (Tattoo removal): A service for youth seeking to remove visible, gang-related, or antisocial tattoos
-
Canine Leadership: A partnership with local shelters that lets youth train adoptable dogs, teaching responsibility and empathy
-
Transitions Work/Study: A comprehensive program for literacy tutoring, GED prep, resume building, job application training, and post-secondary planning
These programs are designed to support personal development and long-term self-sufficiency by addressing both surface-level needs and deeper systemic barriers.
