Summer Graduates of the Spring ISD Class of 2023 Receive Diplomas

August 09 2023

More than 80 students gathered at Dekaney High School on Saturday morning to celebrate their high school graduation. The graduates represented Dekaney, Momentum, Spring, and Westfield high schools.

Before officially certifying the graduates, Superintendent Dr. Lupita Hinojosa spoke to the graduates and their families and friends.

“I have no doubt that our graduates here today are going to create an exciting future – not only for yourselves and your families, but for the rest of the world,” Dr. Hinojosa said. “I speak for everyone in Spring ISD when I say I cannot wait to see what you do in the future!”

As rows of audience members – including family members, friends, fellow students, and teachers – looked on, Julissa Trujillo, a graduating senior from Dekaney High School, recognized the major milestone for her and her fellow graduates.

“These four years have been a true test of personal commitment and sacrifice that has proven we are capable of accomplishing any goal,” Trujillo said. “The road that lies ahead won’t be easy, of course. But our family, friends, and teachers will help us along the way.”

The graduates were also joined by members of the Spring ISD Board of Trustees, members of the Senior Leadership Team, and administrators from the district’s high schools.

“Today is a time for you, the students, to look forward to the future, to think about what is in store for you,” Board of Trustees President Justine Durant said. “Whether that’s continued education at a college or university, an exciting career, or dedication to military service, I know you all will go far.”

Another graduating senior, Cedric Tavarus Ross Jr. from Westfield High School, closed out the ceremony with a few words of encouragement for his fellow graduates.

“An exciting part of this day is that we now get to choose our future, how we define ourselves as high school graduates and adults in this world,” Ross said. “No matter how you choose to define yourself, be sure to follow your passions.”
