Spring ISD 2022 Bond Projects Ramping Up as School Year Progresses

September 13 2023

Schools across Spring ISD are seeing improvements as work continues on the district’s $850 million 2022 Bond initiative.

Recently, security fences were installed at Major Elementary School, with Ponderosa Elementary to receive similar fences this week. Earlier this summer, a security fence was installed around Eickenroht Elementary School.

Beneke Elementary School and Bailey Middle School started the school year with refreshed campuses, featuring newly painted accent walls and hallway stripes. Again, similar projects will be happening at campuses throughout the district as the work on bond projects continues.

In addition, 19 Chevrolet Tahoes have recently been purchased for the Police Department. The vehicles will replace aging vehicles from the police fleet. The Transportation Department will soon be ordering more vehicles, including school buses.

“Although we have many large-scale projects coming, we are currently working on safety and security upgrades, technology improvements, maintenance projects, and design improvements at campuses across Spring ISD as well,” said Mark Miranda, Spring ISD Chief of District Operations. “Although we are excited for those big projects, we’re also looking forward to the impact these other projects will have on each and every student and staff member.”

Over the next few months, the Technology Department will soon deploy 75-inch interactive flat panel devices to schools. These devices are designed for active learning environments and allows teachers to create dynamic and interactive spaces for students with touchscreen panels. In addition, metal detectors at additional campuses will be rolled out soon.

Last month, during its Aug. 8 regular meeting, the Spring ISD Board of Trustees voted to move some of the largest bond projects – including Spring High School’s new campus and the district’s new Education, Performance and Instruction Center (EPIC) – into the official planning and design phases through the approval of designated architectural firms for each project.
