Spring Fire Department Now Offering Safe Sitter Classes to Middle School Students
The Spring Fire Department bringing the renowned Safe Sitter program to the Spring community. Designed to empower the younger generation with vital life skills, the program specially caters to middle school students.
Safe Sitter, Inc., a national nonprofit organization, is the powerhouse behind this initiative. Their mission is to equip young adults with safety skills for situations where they are home alone, looking after younger siblings, or even babysitting. The credibility of the program is backed by its 40 year long legacy of shaping young teens into responsible caregivers, closely aligning with guidelines from the authoritative American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association.
This course will be hosted at the Spring Fire Department Administration located at 656 E. Louetta Road, with a class coming up on January 13. The curriculum is a carefully constructed, comprehensive guide to child care. It delves into the nuances of caring for children of various age groups, emergency management, and even basics of CPR. Spanning a duration of five hours, it's a compact yet thorough training module. Keep in mind that lunch arrangements need to be made by the parents as it won't be provided. And of course, don't forget the grand graduation ceremony at the end of the class!
A crucial point to note is that the program does not offer CPR certification. Those interested can check the department's calendar for available dates.
