Ross Dress for Less to Open New San Antonio Store in Former BuyBuy Baby Space

December 16 2025

San Antonio bargain hunters will soon have a new spot to score big savings on fashion and home essentials. Ross Dress for Less is setting up shop at 522 NW Loop 410, Suite 108, San Antonio, TX 78216, taking over the space that once housed BuyBuy Baby before it closed in 2023.

The remodel is scheduled to begin on February 9, 2026, with a projected opening date of June 1, 2026. Plans call for a full interior build-out of the 29,239-square-foot retail space, complete with new finishes, updated entry and exit doors, and minor exterior upgrades. The project comes with a $1.2 million price tag and is privately funded.

The new store will join a network of approximately 20 Ross Dress for Less locations already popular throughout the San Antonio area, including stores on TX-1604 Loop, Austin Highway, and the South Park Mall area. Each one offers the same promise Ross has become known for since first opening in 1982 — fresh deals, famous brands, and deep discounts on everything from clothing and shoes to home décor and gifts.

For shoppers who love the thrill of the hunt, Ross stores are a favorite stop. Unlike traditional retailers, Ross skips the window displays and fancy fixtures to keep overhead low and prices even lower. New inventory arrives frequently, which means you never know what you’ll find — and that’s part of the fun.

The brand’s no-frills, deal-driven approach is what’s helped Ross become the largest off-price retail chain in the country, with nearly 2,000 stores across 44 states and territories. And it’s not just about savings — Ross is also committed to giving back. The company partners with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to support programs that help kids build confidence, achieve academic success, and live healthier lives.

Bringing Ross into the former BuyBuy Baby space makes smart use of a prime retail location just off Loop 410, one of the city’s busiest corridors. With North Star Mall just around the corner and San Antonio International Airport nearby, this part of town sees steady foot traffic and is a shopping hub for both locals and visitors.

As the renovation begins in early 2026, many in the community will be keeping an eye on the transformation — and likely making a mental list of what they’ll hunt for first when doors open.

Come summer, expect to see that familiar blue Ross sign welcoming shoppers once again — and plenty of deals waiting just inside.
