Potholes, Damaged Roads or Drainage Problems in Inverness Estates? How to Request Road Repairs Through Harris County Precinct 3
For residents of Inverness Estates, a pothole along a familiar route, a damaged stop sign or a roadside ditch that isn't draining properly can quickly become more than a minor inconvenience. These are the kinds of problems that affect everyday travel, neighborhood safety and the condition of the roads families rely on.
Fortunately, residents don't have to wait for a major road construction project to bring attention to these concerns. Harris County Precinct 3 offers a road and bridge service request system that allows residents to report maintenance needs on county-maintained roads, including streets within eligible residential subdivisions.
Knowing what services are available, and how to request them, can help Inverness Estates homeowners and drivers bring problems to the county's attention before they become more serious.
What Road Maintenance Services Does Harris County Precinct 3 Provide?
Led by Commissioner Tom S. Ramsey, P.E., Harris County Precinct 3 is responsible for maintaining nearly 6,800 lane miles of roadway and associated bridges across its service area.
The precinct's Road and Bridge Department handles a range of maintenance responsibilities, including:
-
Pothole repairs: Addressing damaged pavement and roadway surface problems.
-
Road construction and maintenance: Maintaining and improving county roadways.
-
Drainage and ditch maintenance: Addressing roadside ditches and drainage concerns within county jurisdiction.
-
Road sign installation: Installing and maintaining roadway signs.
-
Right-of-way mowing: Maintaining grassy areas along county roads.
-
Tree trimming: Addressing vegetation affecting county-maintained roadways and rights-of-way.
-
Storm debris removal: Clearing storm-related debris from county-maintained areas.
-
Bridge maintenance: Maintaining bridges associated with the precinct's roadway system.
For residents, these services can make a difference in everything from the condition of neighborhood streets to visibility at intersections and drainage following heavy rainfall.
Not every reported concern will require the same response. Some issues may be addressed through routine maintenance, while larger roadway or drainage improvements may require additional evaluation, planning or funding.

Who Is Responsible for Repairing Roads Near Inverness Estates?
One important distinction is that Harris County Precinct 3 does not maintain every road within its geographic boundaries.
County-maintained roads in unincorporated Harris County generally fall under precinct road maintenance responsibilities. However, roads within incorporated city limits may be maintained by the municipality, while state highways and certain major roadways fall under the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
Private streets may be maintained by homeowners associations or other private entities.
For problems involving state-maintained highways, residents can visit TxDOT's Road Needs Repair page.
If residents are unsure which agency maintains a particular road, Harris County 311 can help them identify the appropriate place to start.
Why Reporting Road Problems Matters for Neighborhoods
Road maintenance isn't limited to major thoroughfares. Residential streets, neighborhood entrances, roadside ditches and traffic signs are also part of the infrastructure that residents use every day.
A pothole that goes unreported may continue to deteriorate. Overgrown vegetation can limit visibility, while drainage obstructions can contribute to standing water after storms.
Reporting these conditions gives county maintenance personnel information they can use to evaluate problems and determine appropriate next steps.
For homeowners in Inverness Estates, keeping an eye on neighborhood road conditions is a practical way to participate in maintaining the community.
Residents can learn more about available services and submit requests through pct3.com.
