Packaged with Love: Houston Cy-Fair Lions Club Delivers 540 Meals to Kids' Meals

December 08 2023

In the spirit of compassion and community, the Houston Cy-Fair Lions Club recently extended a helping hand by delivering 540 meals to Kids' Meals—  a heartwarming initiative aimed at supporting preschool children who lack access to free or reduced school lunches. Delivering on their commitment to making a positive impact to Kids' Meals every three months, the Lions Club lovingly packages these meals, which are then delivered to the Kids' Meals facility.

At the Kids' Meals facility, each bag undergoes a final touch with a freshly prepared sandwich and fruit before being hand-delivered to deserving preschoolers. The initiative not only addresses nutritional needs but also emphasizes the importance of nourishing a child's imagination alongside their stomach, packaging their meal in cheerfully decorated bags and carefully crafted seasonal coloring sheets.

Several Lions were integral to the success of this initiative. Lions Bob and Merrell purchased all of the Kids' Meals ingredients for this initiative, while Lion Merrell and her team of volunteers added a personal touch to each bag design. Lion Terry printed delightful seasonal coloring sheets, and Lion Chuck loaded and delivered the heavy boxes to the Kids' Meals headquarters in the Heights.

Embodying the Lions Club dedication to service, the Houston Cy-Fair Lions Club's commitment goes beyond nourishment, extending into the holiday season. Teaming up with various Scouting organizations, the club will be collecting food, packing bags, and delivering frozen turkeys, fresh fruit, vegetables, and kitchen staples to 100 families within the Cy-Fair area. Additionally, on Saturday, December 16, they will honor fallen heroes by laying live wreaths at the Houston National Cemetery.

As the Lions Club continues to make a difference in the lives of those in need, they invite all to be a part of their community-focused initiatives. Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 7 PM at their facility within Bane Park, 9600 West Little York. Joining a Lions Club today isn't just an act of service; it's an accomplishment for life that adds the joy of helping others to your list of achievements.
