New Whataburger Planned for Highway 105 and Loop 336 in Conroe

North Houston
October 06 2026

For Conroe residents who already know exactly how they like their Whataburger, another option appears to be on the way.

Plans have been filed for a new Whataburger restaurant at the northwest quadrant of Highway 105 and Loop 336 in Conroe, according to a recently registered construction project. The new 3,306-square-foot restaurant represents an estimated $2.3 million investment, with construction currently scheduled to begin Nov. 1, 2026, and reach completion April 1, 2027. Those dates reflect the construction filing and remain subject to change.

Another Whataburger for a Growing Part of Conroe

The planned restaurant would add another familiar dining option along two of Conroe's major roadways, an area that serves residents traveling between established neighborhoods, newer development and commercial destinations throughout the city.

Whataburger is certainly no newcomer to Conroe. The company's current location directory lists four restaurants with Conroe addresses, including locations at 2123 W. Davis St., 457 S. Loop 336 W., 802 N. Loop 336 W. and 9353 Highway 242. The new Highway 105 and Loop 336 restaurant would further expand the brand's presence in the Conroe area.

For longtime Texans, Whataburger needs little introduction. Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger in Corpus Christi in 1950 with the idea of making a hamburger large enough to require two hands. More than 75 years later, the San Antonio-based company has grown to more than 1,130 restaurants across 17 states while maintaining especially deep roots in Texas.

A Familiar Texas Menu Close to Home

The menu has grown considerably since those early days. Along with its made-to-order burgers, Whataburger has become known for chicken sandwiches, fries and onion rings, shakes and breakfast staples including Taquitos and the Breakfast On A Bun. The company introduced breakfast systemwide in 1982, followed by the Breakfast On A Bun, Whatachick'n and Taquitos in 1983. Its Fancy Ketchup and Spicy Ketchup have also become recognizable parts of the Whataburger name well beyond the restaurant counter.

What makes the new location notable is where it is planned. Highway 105 and Loop 336 are already busy routes for Conroe residents heading between neighborhoods, schools, shopping areas and other parts of the city. Another Whataburger in this area would put the familiar chain directly in the path of everyday traffic.

The construction filing describes the project as ground-up construction of a new Whataburger restaurant. At this stage, an official restaurant opening date has not been announced. If the currently filed construction schedule holds, however, work would be expected to wrap up in spring 2027.

As Conroe continues to add new restaurants, retailers and services alongside residential growth, the planned Whataburger at Highway 105 and Loop 336 is another small but recognizable piece of that changing landscape. For a city where the orange-and-white Whataburger sign is already a familiar sight, this time it will simply be showing up in one more place.
