New 'Food Truck Fridays' Launch at Fort Bend County Parks for July 2025 Parks and Recreation Month
Fort Bend County Parks and Recreation is turning up the flavor this July with a brand-new, family-friendly summer tradition: Food Truck Fridays in the Park. As part of the County’s celebration of National Parks and Recreation Month, residents are invited to experience local parks in a new way—through music, laughter, community, and delicious bites served curbside.
Food Truck Fridays officially launches this Friday, July 11, at Jones Creek Ranch Park in Richmond, with festivities running from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Guests can enjoy a curated lineup of food trucks offering everything from savory plates to sweet treats—all against the backdrop of one of Fort Bend County’s most scenic green spaces.
“Bring your friends, family, and appetite,” the department encourages. “It’s a delicious way to kick off your weekend.”

A Legacy of Parks and Purpose
The Fort Bend County Parks and Recreation Department, established in 1995 by Commissioners Court, now oversees more than 2,777 acres of parkland, with over 2,200 acres designated as wetlands. This includes 10 active parks, four community centers, and the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds. The department also maintains trails, sports facilities, splash pads, fishing areas, and community spaces—making it one of the most inclusive and ecologically diverse park systems in the region.

During the Proclamation Ceremony held June 26, Assistant Parks Director Gwendolyn Climmons invited residents of all ages and abilities to enjoy the scheduled activities. “We’ve designed this month to reconnect people with the outdoors and with each other,” she said, noting the wide range of programs like Popsicles in the Park, Food Truck Fridays, and the highly anticipated movie night.
Outdoor Movie Night to Cap Off the Month
For families looking for one last summer memory before back-to-school season, Friday, July 25 at Kitty Hollow Park, located at 9555 Hwy 6, Missouri City, TX 77459, offers a two-in-one treat: great food and a free outdoor movie screening under the stars. The movie begins at 7:00 PM, providing a perfect sunset setting to wrap up the Parks and Recreation Month festivities.
As part of the celebration, Fort Bend County is also promoting healthy lifestyle resources through its Fit Fort Bend initiative and partnerships with Fort Bend County Health & Human Services, Fort Bend Green, Risk Management, and Sam’s Club.
