For Medina Valley ISD families, the district’s continued expansion will be a major part of the conversation when trustees gather Monday evening in Castroville.

The Medina Valley ISD Board of Trustees will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, in the district’s Central Office Board Room at 8449 FM 471 S. The posted agenda includes updates and possible action involving school construction, employee compensation, campus improvement plans and district professional development.

According to a Medina Valley ISD announcement, the district is also scheduled to hold a 5:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday for the new Medina Valley High School Ag/JROTC Building.

New Schools and Construction Take Center Stage

Several projects that families have been following are expected to receive attention during the board meeting.

Trustees are scheduled to hear a construction briefing covering Creek View High School, the Medina Valley High School Ag/JROTC Building, Medina Valley ISD Middle School #3 and Elementary School #7. The board will also receive capital projects reports for Bond 2023 and Bond 2024.

Elementary School #7 moves beyond an update on Monday’s agenda. Trustees are scheduled to consider awarding RFCSP 27-001 for the project. The board will also consider approval of substantial completion for the Ladera Elementary portable project.

Those construction items offer residents another look at how Medina Valley ISD is expanding facilities across the district. Creek View High School opened this fall, while Middle School #3 and Elementary School #7 remain part of the district’s longer-range campus expansion plans.

Compensation and Campus Plans Also on the Agenda

The evening is not limited to construction.

Trustees are scheduled to consider a revision to the district’s 2026-2027 Compensation Plan, with proposed amendments to extra-duty stipends included among the supporting documents posted with the agenda. The board will also consider the 2026-2027 Professional Development Plan.

Another item would approve the district and campus improvement plans for the 2026-2027 school year. Separate plans are posted for the district as well as Castroville, LaCoste, Ladera, Luckey Ranch, Potranco and Silos elementary schools; Medina Valley and Loma Alta middle schools; and Medina Valley and Creek View high schools.

Trustees are also scheduled to receive board committee reports covering construction, curriculum, safety and security, and finance, along with a financial briefing that includes the district’s annual investment report. A superintendent briefing on achievements and a Priority 2 update are also listed.

Castroville Elementary Leadership Decision Expected

Following a closed session that may include consultation with the district’s attorney and discussion of personnel matters, trustees are scheduled to return to possible action on the superintendent’s personnel recommendation for Castroville Elementary principal. The agenda does not identify the recommended candidate.

Residents who want to address trustees will have an opportunity during public comment. Medina Valley ISD’s posted agenda states that public comment at regular board meetings may address any topic, with speaking time adjusted depending on the number of participants.

With new campuses taking shape, existing projects moving toward completion and decisions involving employees and campus leadership on the table, Monday’s meeting gives Medina Valley ISD families another opportunity to follow how the district is managing expansion across the community.
