Medina County Adopts 2026 Property Tax Rate at 0.4434, With No Estimated M&O Increase on a $100,000 Home
For Medina County homeowners, landowners and taxpayers trying to understand what local property taxes will look like in 2026, one of the year’s key numbers is now official.
The Medina County Commissioners Court adopted the county’s 2026 tax rate at 0.4434 on Sept. 8, approving the measure on a 5-0 vote with no abstentions.
The rate will support the county’s general operations, Farm to Market responsibilities and debt obligations during the coming tax year. And while the formal tax order states that the rate will raise more money for maintenance and operations than last year’s rate, it also says the effective increase is just 0.25% and estimates the additional maintenance-and-operations tax on a $100,000 home at approximately $0.
That distinction matters for residents watching both the tax rate and their eventual property tax bills. A county tax rate is only one piece of an individual homeowner’s bill, which can also be affected by taxable property values, exemptions and taxes levied by other local jurisdictions.
How Medina County’s 2026 Tax Rate Is Divided
According to the tax-rate order approved by commissioners, the total 0.4434 Medina County tax rate is divided among three areas:
- General Fund: 0.3141
- Farm to Market: 0.0830
- Debt: 0.0463
Together, those components total 0.4434.
The General Fund accounts for the largest share of the adopted rate and supports the county’s day-to-day governmental operations. The Farm to Market portion helps fund county road-related responsibilities, while the debt component supports obligations associated with county borrowing.
For residents searching for the Medina County property tax rate for 2026, those individual pieces help show where the county portion of property taxes is directed rather than presenting the tax rate as a single number without context.
Tax Order Says Maintenance and Operations Revenue Will Increase
The state-required language included in Medina County’s order makes clear that the newly adopted rate will generate more taxes for maintenance and operations than the previous year’s rate.
The order states that the tax rate will effectively be raised by 0.25%.
At the same time, Medina County’s official order says that the resulting increase in maintenance-and-operations taxes on a $100,000 home is approximately $0.00.
That does not necessarily mean every Medina County property owner will see an unchanged overall tax bill. The amount a homeowner ultimately pays can depend on the property’s taxable value after applicable exemptions, as well as the rates imposed by school districts, cities, special districts and other taxing entities.
For homeowners, that makes the taxable value shown on their property records just as important as the rate itself when estimating what they may owe.
Commissioners Approve Tax Rate Unanimously
The tax-rate order was approved Sept. 8, 2026, with all five members of the Medina County Commissioners Court voting in favor.
The recorded vote was 5 for, 0 against and 0 abstaining.
With the order approved, the county’s 2026 tax rate is formally established, giving property owners another piece of information they can use as they plan for upcoming property tax bills and household expenses.
For a growing community, the annual tax-rate decision also provides a snapshot of how county leaders are balancing the cost of ongoing services, road responsibilities and debt with the tax burden carried by residents and property owners.
What Medina County Property Owners Should Watch Next
For most homeowners, the next practical step is to look at the county’s adopted rate alongside their own taxable property value and exemptions rather than relying on the rate alone.
The adopted Medina County rate applies only to the county portion of a property tax bill. Depending on where a property is located, the final bill can include taxes from multiple local governments and districts.
That means two homeowners with similarly valued properties can still have different total tax bills depending on location, exemptions and which taxing jurisdictions serve their property.
As 2026 property tax information moves closer to final bills, residents can use the adopted Medina County tax rate of 0.4434 as the starting point for understanding the county’s share.
