Maureen O’Shay Photography Marks 15 Years of Empowering Portraiture and Opens New Katy Studio
From a humble home studio in Chicago to a flourishing photography business in Katy, Maureen O’Shay’s journey is a heartfelt testament to creativity, resilience, and the power of storytelling through the lens.
This year marks a milestone for Maureen O’Shay Photography, which celebrates 15 years in business and the opening of its first brick-and-mortar studio in Old Katy. What began as a passion project after the birth of her second daughter in 2010 has grown into a full-service photography studio serving clients across the Greater Houston area—from seniors and families to business professionals and nonprofits.
“I have always been passionate about photography and storytelling,” Maureen shared. “After years in public relations and marketing, I saw firsthand how powerful imagery can be in building a brand and capturing life’s most important moments. I wanted to create a business that not only provides high-quality photography but also helps people feel confident and empowered.”

A Second Chapter in Katy
Although Maureen launched the business in Chicago, a move to Katy in 2015 prompted a full relaunch of her brand—something she embraced wholeheartedly.
“When I moved to Katy in 2015, I had to relaunch the entire company,” she explained. “There were challenges with a relaunch, but I love having the business in the Katy area—the sense of community, the growing business environment, and the amazing families and professionals here made it the perfect place to re-establish my studio.”
Her new studio on Avenue B in Katy is more than a space—it’s a celebration of years of hard work, growth, and client-centered service. With natural light and a welcoming vibe, the space is tailored to provide a confidence-boosting experience from the first consultation to the final portrait reveal.
The Heart Behind the Lens
Maureen’s career roots in public relations and marketing gave her an edge in understanding branding and visual storytelling. That knowledge, combined with her authentic, personal approach, sets Maureen O’Shay Photography apart in a competitive industry.

“Before launching my photography business, I worked in public relations and marketing for 15 years,” she said. “That experience gave me a deep understanding of how visuals impact perception and helped shape my approach to photography—making sure every image aligns with a client’s personal or professional goals.”
From professional headshots and branding to family portraits, senior photo sessions, and the signature Team EmpowHER program for high school senior girls, Maureen’s studio offers a range of services. Every session is tailored to highlight her clients’ individuality, confidence, and connection.
Empowering Through Photography
The Team EmpowHER program is one of Maureen’s most unique offerings. It blends photography with mentorship, confidence-building workshops, and community engagement. From self-defense classes to college application support and professional makeup lessons, the program goes far beyond the camera.

Maureen also stays active in the community through nonprofit work, local networking groups, and business organizations like the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, which she officially joined in 2025.
“What makes my business special is the experience I create for my clients,” Maureen said. “I want everyone who steps in front of my camera to feel confident, comfortable, and celebrated.”
Celebrating Community and Milestones
On May 7, 2025, Maureen was honored by the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce during a ribbon-cutting ceremony for her new studio—a moment that symbolized not just a new chapter for the business, but her deepening connection to the Katy community.
