Magnolia ISD School Board to Consider Meal Prices, Bonds, Safety Policies and Facility Naming at July 13 Meeting

July 10 2026

For Magnolia Springs residents, the next Magnolia ISD school board meeting offers an important look at decisions that could affect student meals, transportation safety, district finances, school facilities and several policies involving students and employees.

The Magnolia Independent School District Board of Trustees will hold its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2026, at the Magnolia Event Center, located at 11659 FM 1488 in Magnolia.

The meeting is open to the public and includes an audience participation period near the beginning of the agenda. Regular Magnolia ISD board meetings are generally held on the second Monday of each month at the same location unless otherwise noted.

Student Services, Meal Prices and Hazardous Traffic Conditions on the Agenda

One of the evening’s reports will focus on enrollment in College, Career and Military Readiness programs for students receiving special education services. The update is expected to give trustees a closer look at how Magnolia ISD is helping those students prepare for opportunities after high school.

The board’s consent agenda also includes a resolution addressing hazardous traffic conditions for the 2026-2027 school year. Such determinations can be important for families because they may affect transportation planning and whether certain walking routes are considered unsafe for students.

Trustees are also scheduled to consider meal price increases for the upcoming school year. The agenda does not specify the proposed prices, but any approved changes could affect the daily budgets of Magnolia Springs families whose children purchase breakfast or lunch on campus.

Other consent items include monthly financial reports for May and June, the procurement of library materials, approval of previous meeting minutes and the appointment of Thompson & Horton LLP as the district’s legal services provider.

Board to Consider Naming Brantley Lane Facility

Among the meeting’s considered agenda items is a proposal to name the Brantley Lane facility after Frank and Marcy Parker.

Facility naming decisions often carry special meaning in a growing school district because they become part of the community’s long-term history. The board is expected to discuss the proposal and decide whether to approve the recommended name.

Magnolia ISD Policies Could See Several Updates

Trustees will review Texas Association of School Boards Local Policy Update 127, which includes proposed changes involving superintendent nonrenewal, financial ethics, employment practices, employee conduct, personnel positions, gifted and talented programs, and student safety.

The board will also separately consider revisions to local policies involving graduation speakers and employee grievances. These discussions may be of particular interest to parents, students and staff members who want to understand how district procedures are changing ahead of the 2026-2027 school year.

School Building Bonds and District Growth

Another major item involves authorization for Magnolia ISD to issue Unlimited Tax School Building Bonds, Series 2026. The proposed order would authorize the bond issuance, establish an annual property tax for repayment and allow designated trustees and district staff members to complete documents related to the sale.

For homeowners and taxpayers in Magnolia Springs, the bond item is likely to be one of the meeting’s most closely watched discussions. School building bonds are commonly used to finance major facilities and capital improvements, while repayment is supported through property tax revenue.

The agenda does not state the final bond amount, interest rate or sale terms. Those details may be discussed during the meeting or contained in supporting documents provided to trustees.

Executive Session to Include Security Audit Findings

Later in the evening, the board is scheduled to enter executive session for several matters permitted under Texas law. Topics include consultation with the district’s attorney, personnel recommendations, real estate matters and a summary of findings from recent intrusion detection audits.

Because school security discussions can involve sensitive information, the audit findings will be discussed behind closed doors. Trustees may return to open session afterward to take any legally permitted action.

What Magnolia Springs Residents Should Know

The July 13 meeting brings together several issues that touch daily life for Magnolia Springs families, from cafeteria costs and student safety to district debt and future facilities. Residents who attend can hear the discussion firsthand and use the audience participation portion of the meeting to address the board in accordance with district procedures.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 13, at the Magnolia Event Center, 11659 FM 1488, Magnolia, TX 77353.
