For many Magnolia families, the Magnolia ISD Livestock Show is more than a school event. It is one of those long-running community traditions that brings together students, parents, educators, buyers and supporters around the work that happens well before an animal ever enters the show ring.

The 42nd Annual Magnolia ISD Livestock Show is set for September 16–19, 2026, at the Magnolia ISD Show Barn, 14350 FM 1488 in Magnolia. Over several days, Magnolia ISD FFA students will showcase animals and projects they have spent time raising, preparing and developing for competition.

For residents looking for things to do in Magnolia, Texas, or ways to support local students, the livestock show offers a close-up look at agricultural education in action.

Students Bring Months of Work to the Show Ring

Magnolia ISD students have purchased and raised a wide range of animals for this year’s competition, including hogs, lambs, goats, rabbits, poultry, heifers and steers.

The event also includes a baked goods competition and begins with a Floral Build-Off, giving students additional ways to demonstrate skills connected to agricultural education and FFA programs.

The livestock show is tied directly to students’ educational goals as well. According to Magnolia ISD, proceeds from the sale of animals go to the participating students, helping make the annual show not only a competition, but also an opportunity for young people to see tangible results from months of responsibility and preparation.

The National FFA Organization supports students interested in agricultural education while emphasizing leadership development, achievement and future opportunities. Financial resources connected to FFA participation can also help students continue their education through scholarships and grants.

The 2026 show begins on Wednesday, September 16, with the Floral Build-Off before animal competitions begin later in the week.

4 p.m. — Floral Build-Off

Friday, Sept. 18
8 a.m. — Hog Show
11:30 a.m. — Lamb Show, followed by Goat Show
5 p.m. — Rabbit Show

Saturday, Sept. 19
8 a.m. — Baked Goods Judging
8 a.m. — Turkey Show, followed by Broiler Show
10 a.m. — Steer Show, followed by Heifer Show
4–5:30 p.m. — Buyer’s Dinner
6 p.m. — Live Auction Sale

Live Auction Gives the Community a Direct Role

The 6 p.m. live auction on Saturday, Sept. 19 is one of the most important pieces of the Magnolia ISD Livestock Show because it connects the students’ work with local buyers and community supporters.

For students, the auction represents the culmination of the time they have spent feeding, caring for, training and preparing their animals. For local residents and businesses, it offers a direct way to support agricultural education and the young people participating in Magnolia ISD FFA.

That community connection is part of what has allowed the Magnolia ISD Livestock Show to reach its 42nd year. Generations of local families have become familiar with the rhythm of show week, from early morning judging to the final auction on Saturday night.

A Magnolia Tradition Rooted in Agriculture and Student Leadership

Agricultural education remains an important part of the student experience for many young people in Magnolia, especially in a community where rural traditions continue to exist alongside rapid residential and commercial growth.

Events such as the Magnolia ISD Livestock Show give students an opportunity to practice skills that extend beyond agriculture itself, including responsibility, public presentation, time management, leadership and financial awareness.
