Local Girl Scout Troop Completes Restoration of Little Library at Rennie Park
Great news for book-lovers in our community! The Little Library at Rennie Park, which has been an invaluable resource for our community over the years, has undergone a much-needed renovation. The NCCIA Board of Directors are thrilled to announce that the restoration project is now complete, thanks to the exceptional dedication and hard work of Girl Scout Troop 129109. This project is part of their Bronze Award, which is recognized as a commendable service project executed by Junior level girls.
Back in early December 2023, the troop, under the leadership of Blair Francis, reached out with an initiative to renovate the Little Library. The structure had deteriorated considerably over the years and the younger residents of Nottingham Country who have formed personal bonds with this Little Library felt a strong need to restore it.
As part of the project, a book drive was conducted to refill the library in time for the grand reopening. Despite the hurdles of weather setbacks, the troop managed to not only rebuild a new door but also effectively caulked the library to ensure its longevity.
The NCCIA Board of Directors expressed their gratitude for the Girls hard work and contribution to the community. "Thank you, Girl Scout Troop 129109, for renovating the Little Library at Rennie Park. Our Girl Scouts believe the Little Library is a wonderful resource for the community, and many have used it themselves over the years. This restoration was much needed and stands as a beautiful contribution to our park! We would like to extend our gratitude to the girls for their hard work and dedication."
Job well done to the young leaders of Girl Scout Troop 129109 for stepping up to make a difference in our beloved park!
