Lamar CISD to Host Teacher Job Fair Amid Rapid District Growth

February 21 2025

Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (Lamar CISD), recently recognized as Texas’s fastest-growing school district, is preparing to welcome new educators as it continues to expand at an unprecedented pace. The district will host a Teacher Job Fair on Saturday, March 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Foster High School, inviting passionate educators to explore career opportunities within one of the state’s most rapidly developing school systems.

A District in Hypergrowth

Lamar CISD’s 2Q24 demographic report, presented by Zonda Education in October, identified the district as a hypergrowth school system—a designation given to districts experiencing over 300 new home starts annually within an elementary school attendance zone. This marks the second time Lamar CISD has received this distinction.

“With over 5,000 new home starts in the past year and more than 39,900 future lots slated for development, Lamar CISD is growing at an unprecedented rate,” said Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens. “As we experience unprecedented growth across Lamar CISD, it’s clear that our commitment to quality education must grow with it. Our mission remains to ensure every student has the support, resources, and inspired leadership they need to thrive. We’re excited about the future and dedicated to building a team that can keep pace with our community’s rapid expansion and deliver excellence at every level.”

Currently, the district’s enrollment exceeds 46,800 students, surpassing projections made earlier in the year. The majority of growth is occurring in the elementary grade levels, fueling the need for new teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet rising demand.

Why Lamar CISD?

With projected enrollment increasing by approximately 2,000 students annually, Lamar CISD is committed to hiring top-tier educators who are eager to make a meaningful impact in students' lives. The district aims to provide students with a supportive environment, innovative teaching approaches, and strong community ties.

“Our district is growing by leaps and bounds, with no real end in sight,” said Dr. Nivens. “Lamar CISD is on track to be an innovative leader in public education for many years to come, and it’s a wonderful place for both new and experienced teachers to find a professional home and fulfilling work educating our extraordinary students.”

That sentiment was echoed by Eric Ryburn, a physics teacher at George Ranch High School now in his ninth year with the district.

“My favorite thing is just being with the students, seeing them grow, and seeing their accomplishments,” Ryburn said. “For anybody coming into education, it’s an ever-changing thing, but what is constant is the kids – the students – and the aspect that you have a set of students in front of you that you’re charged to lead and to teach.”

Job Fair Details and Opportunities

Recruiters from campuses and district departments will be available to discuss various positions within Lamar CISD, including teaching roles, administrative positions, and support staff openings. Prospective candidates can explore current job openings and learn about the benefits of working in a fast-growing, high-achieving district.

Attendees are encouraged to bring copies of their resume and complete the brief registration form available online prior to the event. For questions, contact Recruiter@LCISD.org or call 832-223-0300

A Growing Need for Educators

Lamar CISD’s continued expansion is expected to require significant staffing increases in the coming years. With projections indicating enrollment could reach 56,800 students within the next five years, the district is actively planning for sustained hiring and new school construction projects to accommodate its rising student population.

Despite its rapid growth, uncertainty surrounding Texas’s potential expansion of 'School Choice' legislation remains a factor in Lamar CISD’s long-term planning. The district is awaiting legislative updates expected later this year to assess the broader impact on student enrollment.
