La La Land Kind Cafe to Bring Its Signature Kindness and Lattes to Towne Lake
A beloved Cypress coffeehouse will soon pass the torch to a new tenant with a unique mission of its own. La La Land Kind Cafe, the cheerful café chain with a passion for kindness, is preparing to open a new location at The Boardwalk at Towne Lake, in the space formerly occupied by Land of a Thousand Hills.
The change comes after a heartfelt message shared by the owner of Land of a Thousand Hills in August 2025, confirming the café would close its doors after a decade of service. “After 10 amazing years here in Cypress, we will be closing on November 30th. Our landlord has chosen not to renew the lease and to bring in someone different,” the owner shared on a community Reddit thread. “We’re so thankful for all the love and support from this community — it’s been such a joy serving you.”
The new La La Land Cafe will take over the 1,875-square-foot space located at 9935 Barker Cypress Road, Ste. 130, beginning renovations in November 2025, with an expected completion date of February 6, 2026. According to the project's filing, construction will include a full interior refresh featuring a new kitchen, dining space, restrooms, finishes, and ceiling installation.

La La Land Kind Cafe is more than just a place to grab coffee—it’s a social enterprise rooted in joy, community, and impact. Since opening its first café in Dallas in 2019, the brand has expanded nationally with locations in Texas, California, and Tennessee. It currently operates three popular Houston-area locations in Montrose, M-K-T on Shepherd Drive, and South Shepherd Drive.
Their menu reflects the café’s whimsical identity and includes a lineup of vibrant specialty drinks like the “Strawberry Fields” latte and the “French Toast Latte,” alongside iced tea coolers and seasonal creations. On the food side, guests can expect photogenic and flavorful toasts such as “The Queen” avocado toast and truffle burrata toast, served in the brand’s signature sunny-yellow café spaces.
But what sets La La Land apart is its mission.
The café was born from the vision of founder Francois Reihani, who also launched the La La Land Foundation, a nonprofit focused on transforming the lives of foster youth aging out of care. Through paid internships, mentorship, and wraparound services like housing support and mental health counseling, the café provides both employment and empowerment.

“We set out to bring La La Land to life. A place where you walk in and feel a true sense of joy for life,” the brand states. “A place where kindness is priority.”
With each location, the La La Land Foundation continues to build on its mission by expanding its “Kindness Effect,” a movement rooted in service and community healing. Through the Foundation’s Workforce Development Program, community members can support transitioning youth and help build inclusive opportunities—an effort that reflects the café’s “kindness first” philosophy.
As the space at the Boardwalk at Towne Lake prepares to transition from one community-loved café to another, Cypress residents can expect more than just a new place to sip lattes—they can look forward to a vibrant, purpose-driven gathering space centered around compassion and connection.
Renovations are already scheduled, and locals can keep an eye out for opening announcements in early 2026.
