Katy's Free Fall Community Campout Returns November 13-14 with Jungle Adventures, Outdoor Movie and Family Fun at VFW Park
For Katy families looking for a little outdoor adventure without leaving town, the City of Katy's 2026 Fall Community Campout offers a chance to pitch a tent, enjoy a movie under the stars and make some memories together. The free overnight event returns to VFW Park on November 13-14, 2026, with a jungle adventure theme and activities for the whole family.
Hosted by the City of Katy Parks and Recreation Department, the annual campout gives parents and children an opportunity to experience the fun of camping close to home, complete with dinner, entertainment and breakfast the following morning.
Best of all, participation is free, although advance registration is required and space is limited.
Jungle Adventures, Outdoor Movie and Family Activities
This year's jungle theme brings a playful twist to the annual Katy tradition, with an evening of activities designed to get families moving, playing and spending time together outdoors.
Campers can look forward to inflatables, Sportball and P.L.A.Y. activities, along with a special outdoor screening of Disney's Zootopia 2. Dinner will be provided Friday evening, followed by a light breakfast Saturday morning before families pack up their campsites.
For younger children, the event can be a first introduction to sleeping in a tent, while returning campers can enjoy another year of making memories with family and friends.

Making Memories Close to Home
The Fall Community Campout is part of the City of Katy's ongoing efforts to offer accessible outdoor recreation and family-friendly community events. Last year's gathering featured a screening of Lilo & Stitch, s'mores and an evening of camping activities, continuing a tradition that brings local families together in a familiar setting.
With busy school schedules, work commitments and the holiday season approaching, an evening spent outdoors can be a welcome change of pace. The campout gives neighbors a chance to connect, children room to explore and families an opportunity to enjoy one of Katy's parks in a way they might not experience otherwise.
For those searching for free things to do with kids in Katy this November, the Fall Community Campout combines a little adventure with the simple pleasure of spending time together.
