April 29 2026

As May approaches, families across Katy, Cinco Ranch, Fulshear, and surrounding communities are beginning to plan for one of the most meaningful milestones in local education: Katy ISD graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2026. With nine high schools set to walk the stage at Legacy Stadium and dozens of elementary and junior high campuses hosting Senior Clap-Outs, this year’s sendoff is shaping up to be both logistically smooth and deeply personal.

For many families, these events aren’t just ceremonies—they’re a full-circle moment that connects students back to where their journeys began.

Katy ISD 2026 Graduation Schedule at Legacy Stadium

All Katy ISD high school graduations for 2026 will take place nightly from Wednesday, May 13 through Thursday, May 21 at Legacy Stadium located at1830 Katyland Dr, Katy, TX 77493, offering a consistent and carefully managed experience for the community throughout graduation week.

Each ceremony is scheduled for 8:00 p.m., allowing for evening conditions and expanded attendance:

  • Seven Lakes High School – May 13, 2026
  • Tompkins High School – May 14, 2026
  • Jordan High School – May 15, 2026
  • Paetow High School – May 16, 2026
  • Katy High School – May 17, 2026
  • Taylor High School – May 18, 2026
  • Mayde Creek High School – May 19, 2026
  • Cinco Ranch High School – May 20, 2026
  • Morton Ranch High School – May 21, 2026

In a move that continues to make graduation more accessible for families, tickets and parking passes are not required to attend ceremonies at Legacy Stadium. Parking gates open at 6:00 p.m., with guest entry beginning at 7:00 p.m.

What Families Need to Know Before Attending

To ensure safety and a smooth experience, Katy ISD has outlined several important guidelines for graduation attendees.

A key policy families should plan for is the Clear Bag Regulation, which limits the size and type of bags allowed inside Legacy Stadium. Permitted items include clear plastic bags, one-gallon resealable bags, and small clutch bags approximately the size of a hand.

Items such as large purses, backpacks, balloons, noise makers, outside food, and glass containers are not permitted.

Additional expectations include:

  • Guests must remain seated and avoid blocking aisles or ramps
  • Only district-approved photographers are allowed on the field
  • Caps must remain undecorated, and gowns must be worn properly for graduates
  • Comfortable footwear is encouraged due to the stadium surface

Fireworks to Close Each Graduation Ceremony

Families attending Katy ISD’s 2026 graduation ceremonies can expect one more memorable moment at the end of each evening. The district will host a brief 45-second fireworks display following every ceremony at Legacy Stadium.

Graduations typically conclude between 9:30 p.m. and 9:55 p.m., depending on class size, with the fireworks serving as a celebratory sendoff for graduates and their families.

According to Katy ISD, safety remains the top priority. The district has partnered with a licensed professional pyrotechnics company to manage each display. The company will also provide trained safety personnel to ensure both operators and spectators are protected.

All required permits and licensing have been secured through the City of Katy, aligning the displays with local regulations and safety standards.

Senior Clap-Outs: A Full-Circle Tradition Across Katy ISD

While graduation marks the final step, many students will take a symbolic walk back through their earliest school halls in the days leading up to commencement.

Senior Clap-Outs are a beloved Katy ISD tradition where graduating seniors return to their former elementary campuses, walking the hallways in caps and gowns while younger students and teachers line the corridors to cheer them on.

The experience is often emotional—for students, educators, and parents alike—as it highlights just how far these seniors have come.

Across Katy ISD, campuses have scheduled clap-outs throughout May 2026. A few examples include:

  • Katy Elementary – May 11 at 2:45 p.m.
  • Jenks Elementary – May 11 at 2:30 p.m.
  • Shafer Elementary – May 13 at 8:45 a.m.
  • Fielder Elementary – May 13 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Nottingham Country Elementary – May 14 at 2:30 p.m.
  • Seven Lakes Junior High – May 11 at 3:15 p.m.
  • Morton Ranch Junior High – May 12 at 3:20 p.m.
  • Tays Junior High – May 18 at 8:15 a.m.
  • WoodCreek Elementary – May 21 at 8:00 a.m.

Dozens of other campuses—including Bryant Elementary, Cimarron Elementary, Exley Elementary, and Wolfe Elementary—will also host clap-outs, creating moments of connection across the entire district.

For younger students, these events often serve as a powerful visual reminder of what lies ahead. For seniors, it’s a chance to revisit the classrooms and hallways where their educational journeys first began.

What Happens Next for Katy ISD Seniors

Following graduation, students will head in many different directions—college, workforce, military service, and beyond—but for a brief moment in May, the entire community pauses to celebrate them together.

For families planning to attend, arriving early, reviewing stadium guidelines, and checking individual campus communications for clap-out details can help ensure a smooth and memorable experience.

As Katy ISD continues to grow, traditions like these remain a steady thread—connecting past, present, and future students in a way that feels uniquely local.
