Katy ISD Career Fair Opens Paid Student Job Opportunities for Westfield Ranch Teens

Katy / Fulshear  /  Katy / Fulshear
July 10 2026

For teenagers in Westfield Ranch, a first job can be about much more than earning a paycheck. It can also be a chance to learn how a workplace operates, build confidence and gain experience that may help shape future education and career decisions.

Katy Independent School District is inviting students age 16 and older to attend the Katy ISD Student Work Program Career & Job Fair on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Martha Raines Academy in Katy.

The event will connect students with Katy ISD departments offering employment opportunities designed to support young people as they continue their education. Students will be able to ask questions, learn about available positions and better understand what district-based part-time work may involve.

Paid Work Experience Close to Home

The Katy ISD Student Work Program is designed to help students earn money while gaining practical experience in a familiar, community-based environment.

Opportunities may be available in facility operations, technology, communications and marketing. Each area offers a different look at the work that happens behind the scenes to support schools, staff members and students across the district.

A student interested in technology may learn more about the systems and support that keep campuses connected. Someone drawn to communications or marketing may discover how information is shared with families and the broader Katy community. Facility operations can introduce students to the hands-on work required to maintain safe, functional learning environments.

For families in Westfield Ranch, the event offers a direct way to help teenagers explore employment without asking them to choose a long-term career path before they are ready. The immediate goal is simpler: gain experience, develop dependable work habits and begin building a resume.

Why a Student Job Can Matter

An early work experience can help students develop skills that are useful in nearly any career, including communication, reliability, time management, teamwork and problem-solving.

It can also give teenagers something concrete to add to college applications, scholarship materials and future resumes. Just as importantly, students can begin learning how to balance employment with school responsibilities in a setting connected to the district they already know.

The program’s community focus may be especially meaningful for students who want their work to have a visible local impact. Whether assisting with technology, supporting district facilities or helping communicate with families, student employees can play a role in the daily work that keeps Katy ISD operating.

Katy ISD Student Work Program Career & Job Fair Details

The career fair will be held:

Students should come prepared to speak with Katy ISD representatives about their interests, availability and the types of experience they hope to gain. Families in Westfield Ranch may also want to review transportation plans, school schedules and other commitments with students before the event.

A First Step Toward the Future

For a student who has never held a job, walking into a career fair can feel like a major step. The Katy ISD event is designed to make that step more approachable by bringing opportunities, district staff and career information together in one place.

The result could be a first paycheck, a new skill or the beginning of a career interest a student had not considered before.
